Description:
Bestselling science writer Michael Brooks takes us on a fascinating journey through the history of civilisation, as he explains why maths is fundamental to our understanding of the world.
1, 2, 3 ... ? The human brain isn't wired for maths; beyond the number 3, it just sees 'more'. So why bother learning it at all?
You might remember studying geometry, calculus, and algebra at school, but you probably didn't realise - or weren't taught - that these are the roots of art, architecture, government, and almost every other aspect of our civilisation. The mathematics of triangles enabled explorers to travel far across the seas and astronomers to map the heavens. Calculus won the Allies the Second World War and halted the HIV epidemic. And the mysterious Pi is one of the essential building blocks of the 21st century.
From ancient Egyptian priests to the Apollo astronauts, and Babylonian tax collectors to the MIT professor who invented juggling robots, join Michael Brooks and his extraordinarily eccentric cast of characters in discovering how maths shaped the world.
'The Art of More brings to life in accessible, lively terms how maths helps us navigate pandemics, space travel, and encrypted apps ... Why isn't school maths taught like this?'
-David Rowan, founding editor-in-chief of WIRED UK and author of Non-Bullshit Innovation
'Michael Brooks has a rare gift for making science come to life, and in this book he is at his best, fusing mathematics with storytelling as he takes us on an exhilarating sweep through human history.'
-Dan Jones, New

A Huge Hit in My Bully Breed House!
Color: Green, Pattern Name: Hammerhead Shark
I have a house full of bully breeds, and this hammerhead shark toy is by far one of their favorites.
I’ve actually bought a few of them so there are extras around the house — otherwise they’d all be fighting over the same one! That alone tells you how much they love it. The shape makes it easy for them to grab, chew, and toss around, and the squeaker keeps them interested without being obnoxiously loud.
What really impressed me is the durability. My dogs are serious chewers, and we’ve had these for a while now. They’re still going strong, which is saying a lot in this house. The combination of rubber and nylon seems to hold up really well to heavy chewing.
The bacon scent definitely helps keep their attention, and I like that I can add a little peanut butter for extra enrichment. It keeps them busy and off my furniture — always a win.
If you have strong chewers, especially bully breeds, this one is absolutely worth picking up. Durable, fun, and clearly dog-approved in this house.

Color: Green, Pattern Name: Hammerhead Shark
Great for a teething puppy but very loud when it hits the floor. It is truly indestructible!

Great chew toy!
Color: Green, Pattern Name: Hammerhead Shark
Our dogs love them! I have three of the sharks to help them share with each other! LOL
Been crewed on and still look good, long lasting and perfect size for our Golden and Yellow Lab.

Finally a Toy My Aggressive Chewer Can’t Destroy
Color: Green, Pattern Name: Hammerhead Shark
My dog is an extremely aggressive chewer, and finding toys that last more than a few minutes has always been a challenge. Most toys are destroyed almost immediately, but this one has held up incredibly well. He chews on it constantly, and it still hasn’t been destroyed!

A Green Hard Plastic Sea Creature? Chew Toy
Color: Green, Pattern Name: Hammerhead Shark
This is a sturdy chew for my 40 lb retriever who is 9 months old. BUT after she has been chewing on it there are sharp edges which hurt my fingers when she wants me to throw it.
It is strong and she enjoys it, so she can continue as long as she wants but, If it cuts her tongue or mouth it’s gone.
