Straight from Nashville, we're tuning in on this Gibson Custom Shop 1964 SG Standard in an electrifying TV Black Gold finish. This model, a veritable flex of the Custom Shop's design muscle, comes together for a multidimensional look into one of Gibson's most historic guitars. This Gibson Custom Shop creation brings together many fine Custom Shop features for one bold guitar. Beginning with a mahogany body, this Custom Shop piece's devil-horned silhouette is a striking and authentic call for SG fans at the very start. The mahogany of this doublecut is decked in a deep TV Black Gold gloss lacquer finish with Silver Fox filler. These elements combined make for a multi-layered aesthetic with an up-close-and-personal experience with the grains of the mahogany. With the mahogany's grains prominently on display underneath the gloss, this unique TV Black Gold finish is definitely first-place material.
From here, this Custom Shop brings in a mahogany neck in a 1959 Authentic Medium profile. Measuring with a distinct change from headstock to body, this neck is primed for fast maneuvers all the way up and down its length. This shape is enhanced by the addition of a one-piece rosewood fingerboard. Lively and comfortable, the rosewood pick features Jescar FW45100 (Medium Jumbo Reissue) fret wire for a smooth and speedy feel across the fingers. Aged celluloid trapezoid fret inlays line the rosewood for that added classy and geometric visual element.
Where would our SG be without some heat, huh? This Gibson Custom SG Standard is equipped with two aged, unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 humbucking pickups. Punching in for warmth and kick, these two humbuckers play with interesting character that any SG fan is sure to swoon over. A suite of fine hardware specs align on this SG to enhance the playability of this guitar even more. At its headstock, Kluson Deluxe tuning machines appear with a nylon Reissue nut for quick stringing and stability past the fingerboard. At the scale's opposite end, this Custom Shop introduces its pièce de résistance, its No-Wire ABR-1 bridge and Maestro Vibrola vibrato tailpiece. Like a glorious golden shield, this addition makes this SG deeply expressive and playable with colorful vibrato bends at any juncture. To top it all off, this Custom Shop SG Standard travels with an included Gibson hardshell case.
