According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, 3.5 million Americans are homeless, 5 to 10 percent of homeless people have dogs and/or cats. In some areas of the country, the rate is as high as 24 percent.*

Every day, countless people facing homelessness do everything they can to care for the pets they love. These animals provide more than companionship — they offer comfort, stability, and unconditional love during life’s darkest moments. These pet owners often sacrifice their own well-being to meet their animals’ needs. Many are turned away from shelters simply because they refuse to abandon the only family they have left, since many homeless shelters don't allow pets. This puts both owner and pet in a very dangerous situation. When they have to stay outside in high temperatures - it puts both lives in peril, from overheating & dehydration to bug infestations & severe sun burns. And despite the struggle, the pet owners choose love — every single day.
You can make that choice too. Your donation helps send life-improving supplies to pets living in unstable conditions — and offers peace of mind to the people who cherish them. We will work with our partners to send cooling mats and bandanas which are very helpful for pets living in hotter climates and might have to go without shade for a while. Bowls that keep a pet's food and water clean and sanitary, flea and tick medication that helps keeps dogs & cats healthy - since many are outside most of their days. Brushes, nail trimmers and shampoo that will keep dogs & cats healthy and happy will be sent as well. Some donations may also support pets in shelters, surrendered by those who had no other choice.
