This inaugural release is inspired by surrealism, marrying the intricate process of whisky production with the avant-garde approach of artistic expression.
The Macallan Concept Number 1 was matured first in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then underwent a unique secondary maturation in ex-bourbon casks, a reverse of The Macallan’s typical process. This experimental approach not only challenges traditional whisky making but also highlights the distillery’s commitment to innovation and craftsmanship.
On the nose, Concept Number 1 offers an intriguing blend of sweet citrus and green apple complemented by vanilla and fresh oak. These are beautifully accented by subtler notes of almond and cinnamon, creating a complex and inviting aroma that beckons further exploration.
