DC-9 JT8D Engine Cowling Chair

McDonnell Douglas produced more than 976 DC-9 twin-engine jetliners between 1965 and 1982, including 47 C-9 aircraft for military customers. The last of these venerable airliners in regular passenger service retired in 2014. This artifact is a genuine DC-9 Pratt & Whitney Jt8D engine cowling that has been converted into a sleek chair. The cowling was removed from the aircraft, stripped of paint, and polished in multiple steps to achieve a mirror finish. The seat is upholstered in high-quality black leather with stitching that echoes the shape of the rotor blades that once spun inside the engine. The seat and back cushion are removable, and the front of the chair is trimmed in black leather. Certificate of Authenticity is included. Each piece is unique and may vary slightly from photograph.
