All access to lecture recordings, songwriting prompts and all course materials for Brian Eno's songwriting workshop taught in January 2024. By purchasing this past course, you're able to watch Brian's lectures and go about the course at your own pace!

A selection of topics covered:

  • The Role of Surrender: Many of life's peak experiences come in moments of surrender. We’ll explore surrender as a larger life practice to cultivate a more present, curious, and playful state of consciousness that is conducive to writing songs.
  • Avant Gardening: What happens when we allow ourselves to experiment at the furthest reaches of our imagination? We’ll discuss how making time for discovery separate from our songwriting practice can yield a rich harvest.
  • Creating a Compelling Sonic World: Male bowerbirds spend the majority of the day creating elaborate and beautiful nests, all with the singular hope that a female might feel compelled to fly through. In music, we can build a sonic ‘nest’ to capture ourselves and compel us to sing over it.
  • Oblique Strategies: Creativity loves limitations. We’ll use constraints and games that put ourselves in unfamiliar situations that, in turn, stimulate our creative minds to seek new and radical solutions.
  • Should Music Still Be Called Music: In an age of samplers, recording studios, and keeping up with the continual development of technology, is music still the same art form or is it something completely new?

This archived course includes:

  1. Class Video Recordings – Watch all 4 of Brian's lectures and Q&As on his songwriting process.
  2. All course materials, including songwriting prompts crafted by Brian.
  3. Access to the "community jukebox" – upload your new songs to the jukebox and share the tunes with fellow classmates!

FAQ:

Q: What musical experience should I have?
A: People across all musical levels will be able to gain something from the course. However, it will be helpful to be comfortable playing a few basic chords on any instrument of your choice.
Q: What if I’ve never written a song before? Can I still participate in this workshop?
A: Yes! As with any new skill, just starting is usually the hardest part. This workshop will provide the structure and accountability we all need to get started and follow through, for beginners and old guard writers alike.

Runs way too small
Color: Black, Size: Medium
If you live in the U.S. and wear medium, a large will fill you perfectly. I wear large and the “large” is objectively a medium in the chest arms and neck. Fix your sizes.

Looks Sharp! Stiff, Balloon Comfort!
Color: Black, Size: XX-Large
I purchased the PJ PAUL JONES Men's Oxford Button-Down Shirt as a gift, and it comes with a mix of strengths and trade-offs. The buttons are plentiful and high quality, and the inclusion of a couple of spare buttons is a thoughtful touch. The color is a deep, rich shade just as I hoped, giving the shirt a sharp, professional appearance. The fabric has a noticeable texture that looks like cotton, but the heavier thread count gives it a sturdier, more rugged feel, (almost outdoorsy) rather than the soft, premium cotton I expected. My biggest concern is that it may feel scratchy against the skin and less comfortable for long hours of wear. The shirt is also quite boxy in shape, with little to no side curve, which limits ease of movement and can cause it to crease or untuck when bending or sitting. Overall, it’s a durable, well-constructed shirt with a polished look, but comfort and fit may be an issue if you prefer softer fabric and a more tailored, flexible cut.
