Laura Marling's songwriting workshop taught in March 2025. By purchasing this past course, you're able to watch Laura's lectures and go about the course at your own pace!

Laura’s class traverses both the poetic and practical layers of songwriting, centering on the elusive concept of a song’s spring, the structure from which lyrics and melody unfurl. The four lectures include anecdotes from Laura’s creative life, reflections on her musical influences, philosophical musings, and live song breakdowns. Throughout the class, students are encouraged to explore the power of simplicity, curiosity, and emotional truth. With an emphasis on self-trust and creative instinct, students will leave this course with new songs, and a sense that the magic of songwriting lies not in technical mastery, but in learning to follow the threads that pull you toward something only you can say.

Laura's class includes four lectures titled:

1. Naive Songwriting & The Spine of a Song

2. Breathing In, Breathing Out

3. New Sonic Landscapes

4. Patterns

This course also includes 3 songwriting prompts based on the lecture content of classes 1-3, plus bonus resources gathered by Laura, including playlists for each lecture, a breakdown of the guitar tunings used on each of her albums, and lists of additional educational materials Laura has used for her own musical growth.

Testimonials from March 2025 Students:

"Thinking on the topics of the lectures and working on the homework prompts led me to some musically exciting and unexpected moments that I've found a lot of personal value in. My world grew a bit more with each song I wrote. I'm very glad I took this class."

"I have written songs all of my life but have never done anything with them really. Now I am starting to learn what I'm capable of, what success means to me, how I can write from different perspectives, how I can improve my technical skills. I loved it."

"This was an immensely touching, emotional, uplifting, thrilling and a wholesome experience. I have been writing songs for 5 years and have recorded a full length album that I have just been sitting on for months unable to take the next steps to release and the wisdom shared in these lectures has given me the push I needed to embrace the artist type that I am."

"I was inspired not only by the lecture content but also by the way Laura sees the world and the words she used to describe it with. I am so inspired to start creating even more."

Bargain Espresso Machine Works Great
Color: Silver
Great espresso machine, and a bargain at only $100! Pulls perfect shots with a generous amount of crema. And, it comes with a high-quality tamper. Tips: When you first turn it on, remember to run the steam wand for a couple seconds to prime the system. Test/experiment with the grind to get it just right--40 seconds with my blade grinder is working for me.

Great Espresso Machine for Beginners
Color: Silver
Update: Milk teamer doesn't deliver the foam like at the first couple of days, and the espresso doesn't come with the crema any longer. Somehow the pressure goes above the espresso range, and I tried to decrease the amount of coffee, and no results. I am so disappointed. First thing that impressed me about this little espresso machine is how easy it to use. You can make a double espresso shot in literarily 1 minute. Second thing is size, the machine is pretty compact that you can place it anywhere in the kitchen without worrying about taking too much space. Also, it heats up quick, and the options are straightforward. The water tank is just the perfect size, which is excellent for me, and I don't have to refill water constantly. Performance-wise, it feels solid and does an excellent job making shots like what you'd expect in a cafe. The water pressure is just right, delivering this espresso shot without the extra acidity. The flowmeter regulates the water evenly which is great in making that creamy espresso. Something else to note, it's small and also quiet, which is big to me since the last one was making unnecessary noise every time I make a shot. Now, the milk frother is pretty decent, and create that foam you'd love to see in your cappuccino and latte. Overall, this is a pretty decent choice, and feels durable.

Beautiful, functional, and perfect for a stylish coffee bar
I absolutely love this scale. As someone who cares about both function and aesthetics, this was exactly what I was looking for. It’s refreshing to find a high-quality kitchen tool that doesn’t force you to sacrifice the look of your space. The white and gold design is stunning and fits perfectly on my coffee bar without looking bulky or industrial. Functionally, it works flawlessly. I primarily use it to measure my coffee beans, but I’ve also used it for other items, and it’s consistently accurate and easy to use. The size is perfect — compact enough to keep out on the counter without taking up space, yet large enough to be practical and stable. The display is clear, the buttons are responsive, and the overall build feels solid and well made. I also appreciate how intuitive it is to use — no learning curve at all. If you’re someone who loves a beautiful, cohesive kitchen setup but still wants reliable, quality tools, I would highly recommend this scale. It’s small, stunning, and performs exactly as it should.
