Discover the exquisite poetry collection, Sinking Lessons, by Philip Armstrong, published by Otago University Press. This enticing paperback edition measures 150 x 230 mm and contains 54 pages of breathtaking verses that resonate with the essence of life and nature. Armstrong's poetry captures the vitality of a world often overlooked, weaving compelling narratives that encompass both mundane experiences and profound adventures—such as shipwrecks, arctic escapades, and mythical descents into the underworld. His diverse cast of characters includes family members and icons from myth and literature, including Orpheus, Scheherazade, and even Frankenstein's Creature. The poems seamlessly blend the beauty and chaos of existence, inviting you to explore the intimate interplay between human and non-human elements—sun, stars, wind, water, and an array of creatures. This first collection of poetry by Armstrong is a vibrant exploration of humanity's connection with the natural world, offering a rich tapestry of imagery and emotion. Since this collection is in stock in New Zealand, you can enjoy a hassle-free purchase with no unexpected import charges, customs duties, or taxes. The poems in Sinking Lessons portray the vitality of a world full of things and beings we too often disregard, using language that vibrates in harmony with the lively tales it tells – from small, everyday events to stories of shipwrecks and strandings, resurrections and reanimations, arctic adventures and descents into the underworld. The cast of characters includes members of the poet’s family alongside heroes from myth and literature, such as Orpheus, Scheherazade and Frankenstein’s Creature. And crowding in upon these, at all times, a multitude of non-human protagonists: sun and stars, wind and water, mud and sand, body fluids, decaying matter, chemicals organic and inorganic, and a great many fishes and birds and beasts. Sinking Lessons is the first collection of poetry from Philip Armstrong, winner of the 2019 Kathleen Grattan Poetry Award.

Stunning watch!! Purchased for my boyfriend for his birthday. He is a bigger guy with a larger arm/wrist so the size of this watch looks great on him. He receives a ton of compliments on it, and it still catches my eye every time he wears it. Decent weight without being too heavy (he reports). Perfect to wear as a daily watch or dress up with
