Het behalen van vijf sterren in zes opeenvolgende jaren in James Halliday’s Wine Companion maken Langmeil dan ook tot één van de toonaangevende wijnproducenten in dit gebied. De doelstelling van deze winery is het maken van topwijn die 100% afkomstig is uit Barossa en van druivensoorten die uitblinken in dit gebied. Alhoewel een aantal van haar wijngaarden veel ouder zijn werd Langmeil in 1996 opgericht door de drie vrienden: Chris Bitter, Carl Lindner en Richard Lindner. De originele wijnmakerij die op het landgoed sinds 1930 gevestigd was sloot in 1988 en heeft daar tot 1996 onaangeroerd gelegen. Het zorgvuldig restaureren hiervan duurde jaren. De Chief Winemaker Paul Lindner overziet vandaag de dag het vinificatieproces en geeft hier in het bijzonder aandacht aan het maken van wijn uit individuele wijngaarden, minimale “handling” en zorgvuldige filtratie om zo uitgesproken goed gebalanceerde wijnen met subtiele complexiteiten te kunnen garanderen. Langmeil toont dat Barossa in staat is tot het voortbrengen van niet alleen makkelijk benaderbare wijnen maar ook complexere varianten met een uitstekend bewaarpotentieel.

De Langmeil Steadfast Shiraz/Cabernet is gemaakt van Shiraz- en Cabernet Sauvignon-druiven uit de Barossa Valley. De druiven worden gefermenteerd in roestvrijstalen tanks en daarna 9 maanden gerijpt in oude eikenhouten vaten.

Deze wijn heeft een helderrode kleur met smaken van donkere bessen, pruimen en een vleugje eikenhout. Hij is medium tot vol van smaak met een zachte afdronk.

Het past goed bij gegrild vlees, stevige pasta en gerijpte kazen.
