Taxuskever bestrijden met aaltjes
De larven van de taxuskever kunnen goed bestreden worden met aaltjes. De bestrijding is het effectiefst als de larven nog klein zijn. Maar omdat een volwassen taxuskever gedurende meerdere maanden eitjes blijft leggen, zijn er altijd larven van verschillende groottes aanwezig. Vandaar dat het slim is om 2 keer per jaar aaltjes in te zetten: De eerste keer in augustus, om de larven te bestrijden die in het voorjaar en in de vroege zomer uit zijn gekomen. De tweede keer eind oktober of in november, om de larven die daarna zijn uitgekomen te bestrijden. Bij een hardnekkige plaag kunnen in het vroege voorjaar ook nog een keer aaltjes worden ingezet, voordat de larven gaan verpoppen.
 
Welke soort aaltjes zijn het meest geschikt tegen de larven van taxuskever?

Heterorhabditis bacteriophora en Steinernema feltiae werken beiden uitstekend tegen larven van de taxuskever. Bij bodemtemperaturen onder de 16 graden bevelen we Steinernema feltiae aan (de aaltjes die je nu bekijkt). Bij bodemtemperaturen boven de 16 graden werkt Heterorhabditis bacteriophora het best. Maar wacht in het najaar niet te lang met het toepassen van aaltjes, want bij bodemtemperaturen onder de 8 graden wordt ook Steinernema feltiae minder effectief.

    This is really more of a unisex option for a sandal. I have sandals that look like this, and both of my children have worn this style.
