Het idee was een rode wijn te maken van vooral Cabernet Sauvignon druiven uit Napa, maar in de stijl van een Bordeaux.

Beide heren hadden hun strepen natuurlijk al ruimschoots verdiend in de mondiale wijnwereld en een succesverhaal was geboren.
Het idee was een rode wijn te maken van vooral Cabernet Sauvignon-druiven uit Napa, maar in de stijl van een Bordeaux. De wijnmaker van Mouton, Lucien Sionneau en de zoon van Robert Mondavi Tim kwamen in de winery van Mondavi om de stijl van de nieuwe wijn te bepalen. Het duurde drie dagen voordat beide wijnmakers het eens werden. Bordeaux en Napa hadden elkaar gevonden.Tot 1982 heette de wijn “Napamédoc”, als uiting van de filosofie van het project.

In 1989 bouwde Opus One een nieuwe, ultramoderne wijnmakerij in Oakville. De wijn was toen al één van de duurste van Californië maar werd in de jaren 1990 nog populairder dankzij de grote vraag uit zowel Europa als Azië en heeft inmiddels cultstatus bereikt. Hoewel de Cabernet Sauvignon de meest gebruikte druif is, kom je in hun blend ook wel de andere typische bordeauxdruiven tegen: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot en Malbec.

Voordat de wijn op de markt komt – meestal op 1 oktober – rijpt hij 18 maanden in nieuwe Franse eiken vaten en daarna nog eens 15 maanden op de fles. Op het etiket zijn de silhouetten van Baron Philippe de Rothschild en Robert Mondavi afgebeeld.

It works... very well... for me. VERY WELL.
I typically detest American companies as many of the products contain both harmful and helpful ingredients at the same time. So far, Prequel has EXCEEDED my expectations. PROS: It works for my skin. EWG gives good scores to Prequel also. Skin looks great afterwards. No scent. Lasts for hours with a healthy skin tone. You don't have to use a lot to cover an area (see below). CONS: Slightly greasy when applied so it not a lightweight cream. Small tube (see below). Pricey. You don't have to use a lot. I find that due to its slightly greasy nature, you can use much less to cover a greater area. Afterwards the greasiness disappears, leaving plump, healthy feeling skin texture. As with any skincare product, your skin may react differently. I have tried major Western brands which worsened my skin (Cereva for instance) before switching to Korean & Japanese products (far superior). Prequel is now the only Western brand I will use on a regular basis, to include their bar of soap (superior to my regular Korean brand).
