‘Clematis Dr Ruppel’ is een grootbloemige clematis met gestreepte donker/lichtroze bloemen. Deze bloemen verschijnen rond mei- juni en de clematis bloeit door tot september. De clematis is winterhard, maar wel bladverliezend. Snoeien van deze plant is niet noodzakelijk maar kan wel als hij bijvoorbeeld te groot wordt. Doordat deze grootbloemige clematis vrij vroeg bloeit is het aan te raden pas na de bloei te snoeien. Om de clematis beter te laten klimmen heeft hij een beetje hulp nodig. Het beste kun je de plant dan ook langs een rek, draad of stok omhoog leiden. De clematis doet het dus zowel in de halfschaduw als in de zon erg goed.
