Deze Franse likeur heeft een zijdezachte en fruitige smaak, met aroma’s van bloemen. De afdronk is zacht en kruidig met zoete smaken van honing en vlierbloesem.

Cognac producent Merlet & Fils begon in de jaren zeventig met het ontwikkelen van fruitlikeuren. In deze periode nam de populariteit van cognac erg af en werd er naar een alternatief product gezocht om naast de cognac te maken. Een gedeelte van de druiven werd vervangen door zwarte bessen en hier werd Crème de Cassis uit geboren. De uitzonderlijke kwaliteit van de verschillende fruitlikeuren komt voort uit de kennis van de familie en het gebruik van hoge kwaliteit rijp fruit uit Frankrijk.
