Victron galvanische isolator 32A VDI-32De galvanische isolator bestaat inwendig uit twee dioden die antiparallel geschakeld zijn. Dioden laten in deze schakeling spanning door in beide richtingen, maar pas boven een bepaalde drempelspanning. De spanning, waarbij een diode gaat geleiden, is circa 1,4 Vdc. Is er echter een (hogere) foutspanning in het wisselstroomcircuit, dan zullen de dioden de stroom doorlaten en zal de aardlekschakelaar de stroomkring verbreken.
