De Syringa 'Josée' is een klein blijvend exemplaar en is daarom geschikt voor zowel een kleine tuin als een grote tuin. De soort groeit opgaand waardoor hij een mooi silhouet geeft. De struik kan betreft lichtbehoefte zowel op een zonnige als halfschaduwplek geplant worden. Hij is uitstekend winterhard en is te planten in vrijwel elke grondsoort, dus zand- leem- en kleigrond. Echter verdraagt hij geen verharding.
