Lavendel is qua werking een veelzijdige plant en kan worden ingezet voor vele doeleinde. Lavendel werkt opbeurende, maar is vooral goed zuiverend. Het werkt verzachtend, rust gevend en ontspannend. Lavendel mag puur op de huid aangebracht worden. Vooral op een zon verbrande huid, het verzacht en hersteld de huid snel.

Lavendel is een groenblijvende, houtige struik die tot 1 meter hoog kan groeien, met lichtgroene, smalle, draadvormige bladeren en bloemen met een violet blauwe kleur. De Lavendel wordt nu overal ter wereld gecultiveerd, maar oorspronkelijk komt de plant o.a. uit Frankrijk, Spanje, Italië, Engeland, Australië, Tasmanië, Griekenland. O olie wordt door stoomdestillatie uit de bloeiende toppen gehaald en is een kleurloos tot lichtgeel met een zoet, bloemig, kruidige geur. Het wordt gebruikt in antiseptische zalven en als geurstofcomponent in zepen, cosmetica, lotions, parfums, en als smaakmiddel in voedingsmiddelen en dranken.

Gebruik
4-6 druppels verdampen. Mengen met een basisolie voor een huid of massage olie.
