Onderhoud

De uitvoering in antiek messing is geschikt voor zowel binnen- als buitengebruik. Het oppervlak is getrommeld, waardoor het een matte en licht gevlekte uitstraling heeft. Er zit geen laklaag op, waardoor het materiaal na verloop van tijd donkerder en matter kan worden door oxidatie. Dit effect wordt soms juist gewaardeerd, vooral bij renovatie van oudere gebouwen.

Voor onderhoud is het voldoende om het beslag regelmatig af te nemen met een zachte, droge doek. Eventueel kun je daarna een dun laagje blanke was of zuurvrije vaseline aanbrengen om het te beschermen. Vermijd schurende of agressieve schoonmaakmiddelen.

  • Goed en regelmatig onderhoud verlengt de levensduur.
  • Gebruik geen agressieve of schurende reinigers.
  • Verwijder het beslag tijdens schilder- of schuurwerk.
  • Bescherm het met bijvoorbeeld deurstoppers om schade te voorkomen.
