This Signal Controller detects trains by projecting invisible infra-red light and sensing the reflection from the underside of the rolling stock. Once triggered by a passing train, the module runs built-in programs to simulate the operation of 2-, 3- or 4-aspect signals.
Requires a 12V DC power supply.
All signals normally show green. When a train passes the detector, the signal switches to red. After the train has fully cleared the detector, the module returns the signal to green, passing through yellow and double yellow where appropriate.
This module includes realistic fading between aspects to simulate filament lamp behaviour, with adjustable fade rates if required.
All timing settings are fully programmable to suit the scale being modelled. The unit is supplied pre-programmed with the most common settings, requiring only the selection of 2-, 3- or 4-aspect operation.

Installation
- The infra-red sensor is installed below the trackbed.
- Detection range is approximately 25 mm at normal sensitivity, adjustable if required.
- The detector fits into an 8 mm hole drilled through the baseboard.
- The sensor can be secured using blutack, polystyrene, or similar materials.
- The LED diameter is 2.2 mm, allowing clear visibility between sleepers even on smaller scales.
- Signals not included.
