Easily grown from Godetia Farewell to Spring seeds, this showy and charming annual flower is one of the showiest wildflowers and most beautiful garden flowers. Also called Atlasflower, the dwarf version of Clarkia Amoena grows 12-24 inches tall and produces large, cup-shaped flowers that bloom in shades of light and dark pink. The blooming Godetia flowers is a good source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Godetia Dwarf Farewell to Spring is the most flamboyant western native wildflower that is widely planted in borders, flower beds, cutting gardens, cottage gardens, pots and containers. Clarkia Amoena seeds can be started indoors in pots 6-8 weeks before last frost date or sown directly in the garden as soon as the ground can be worked. The seeds can be sown in fall in mild climates, and the established Godetia grows best in average, moderately fertile, well-drained soils requiring full sun in coastal climates and part shade in hot summer climates and inland. Godetia flowers are satiny, wavy, and rippling, looking somewhat like a full skirt, and they make terrific cut flowers.
