M700 Amplifier

The Stellar M700 mono amplifiers are a massively powerful engine capable of effortlessly driving demanding loudspeaker loads to concert levels.

Enjoy an unheard of level of control and command from your loudspeakers with the Stellar M700, one of the most extraordinary under $5,000 power amplifier pair ever crafted. With its mighty 700 watt engine connected to any sized loudspeaker, the M700 monoblocks deliver extraordinarily effortless linear headroom that seems to go on forever. Dynamics like you’ve rarely experienced before. Slam, control, toe-tapping pacing, and music’s subterranean depths are effortlessly delivered to any loudspeaker from the most efficient to the most demanding. Revel in rich layers of fine, full detail you might have been missing before Stellar. Marvel at the deep, extraordinary, wall-to-wall soundstage. Control your loudspeakers as never before. Effortless. Lush. Stellar.

Design

The hybrid approach used in the Stellar M700 Power Amplifier takes advantage of the best traits technology has to offer. Its all important input stage relies upon the Analog Cell to provide a zero-loss interface between the preamplifier and DAC, as well as imprint the amp's sonic character. The perfected analog voltage is then converted into the high current output needed to effortlessly drive your loudspeakers.

Application

The M700 is Stellar's best. Rated at 350 watts into 8Ω and 700 watts into 4Ω, a pair of these placed on any loudspeaker brings forth the lush, rich, and soul-satisfying power of two completely independent power blocks with headroom to spare. The listening experience with the M700 starts feet tapping and smiles breaking out. One listen to a hugely loud and complex musical passage effortlessly rendered by the M700 pair and you'll know you made the right choice.

Technology

Overview

Rated at 350 Watts into 8Ω and 700 Watts into 4Ω, the M700 combines the best of two worlds: ultra linear, high-current, Class D technology for the output stage; a discrete, Class A MOSFET based Analog Cell for the all-important input stage. The Stellar M700 captures the rich, full-bodied essence of recorded music and presents it to your loudspeakers with authority and grace, never a hint of glare or unnaturalness. The M700 is faithful to the music like few amplifiers are. Listeners are constantly surprised at the width and depth of the M700's soundstage; its preservation of the smallest details in reverb, room acoustics, and musical overtones; its commanding presence without intrusion; its delicate handling of subtle shadings; its authority as it grabs hold of the loudspeaker and breezes through even the most complex musical passages.

The Analog Cell

Stellar's design imperatives -- affordable pricing and uncompromised sonics -- were major challenges solved by the invention of a unique new circuit christened the AnalogCell. Nothing in the design of a power amplifier is more important than its input stage when preserving music's finest nuances. Knowing full well that the input stage determines sonic character, the AnalogCell has been employed to preserve the rich details found in music. The AnalogCell is the heart of the M700's musicality, where rich overlaid layers of music's inner details are preserved even in the most complex orchestral crescendos. As a proprietary, fully differential, zero feedback, discrete, Class A MOSFET circuit, hand-tuned to capture the smallest micro dynamics without sacrificing the loudest macro dynamics music has to offer, the AnalogCell makes all the difference in preserving music's magic.

Output Stage

The Stellar M700 has a massive power supply and ultra-linear, high-wattage power amplification stage based on a modern Class D ICE module. Class D output stages provide near-perfect linearity, low distortion, and high efficiency. Modern Class D amplifiers, like the type used in Stellar, extend high frequencies to about 50kHz. Human hearing limitations are 20kHz, though most listeners rarely have hearing exceeding half that. Providing excellent frequency extremes, low distortion, high efficiency, high damping factor, and a generous and powerful output of 700 watts into the most common loudspeaker loads of 4Ω, the M700 is nothing short of breathtaking. The massively powerful nature of the M700 works well with any loudspeaker—big or small—providing huge amounts of headroom and effortless sound quality for even the most demanding orchestral crescendos.

All PS Audio components I've encountered (or owned) are incredibly well-built and the Stellar line is no exception. They have a weight, look and feel that exudes quality belying their sub-,000 USD total cost and puts me in mind of gear I've reviewed costing double this price point. The PS Audio Stellar 'three-fer' proved itself to sound far more captivating, powerful, lyrical, musical and possess a humanity to its sonic signature in playback of all types of music than I previously thought

I was really able to hear the amplifiers' real attributes: astonishing and accurate bass, with sparkling highs that had an almost tube-like sound. How did they accomplish this in such a small footprint for such an amazing price? In the end I believe this is the top of the line in its price range. Nothing comes close—the sheer amount of power and sound quality that comes from these little chassis is nothing but pure engineering magic. Kudos to the PS Audio team for coming up with such a simple

I could not fault the sound of the Gain Cell DAC -- its neutrality and honesty were captivating, leading to compelling listening. During my time with it and the pair of M700s, I always felt they had total control over whatever music was thrown at them, in whatever format. From the understated nuance of an unaccompanied lute to the bombast of a symphony orchestra going full tilt, the laid-back drive of dub or the pulse of electronica, I not once felt deprived of any of the music's emotion

PS Audio has been on a roll. That roll continues with the Stellar M700 power amplifier. I have had nothing but good experience with PS Audio products; still, with the Stellar M700, my expectations were exceeded. Having little sound of its own, the M700 delivered well-balanced reproduction that was always faithful to the music… the Stellar M700s came ever so close to matching the sound of my high-end reference monoblocks

There are many excellent-sounding amplifiers in this price range, but few can put out anywhere near as much power as the Stellar M700, and most of those that do don't sound as refined. PS Audio says that the Stellar M700 is one of the most extraordinary monoblocks ever sold for less than 000/pair. I have to agree. The Stellar M700 is my new favorite entry-level high-end power amplifier

In the Stellar M700, PS Audio has designed excellent sounding mono amps that can be the foundation of a reasonably priced high-end audio system. The analog input section is as expansive and natural sounding as the ICE amp modules are powerful and accurate. The resulting sound is a wonderful balance between expression and precision, allowing the amps to disappear within the audio chain. They clearly take on the signal they are fed, allowing a great front end to weave its audio magic

I've been putting source material through the rig with the PS Audio Stellar M700's Mono amps for a month and I have been consistently impressed with their musicality and get up and go. These powerful PS Audio Stellar M700 Mono amplifiers are capable of effortlessly driving demanding loudspeaker loads to concert levels. This may be the first higher-priced component I can't live with out... but wait, there's more

Very informative and well written. Check out Phrasing.
Format: Kindle
Very informative and well written. I especially like the concept of Phrasing as an aid to meditating on the Word. I don't know Greek and got a lot of value out of it.

accessible Greek for all
Format: Paperback
I got this book for my wife, who is a complete Greek novice. She enjoys it. And it is accessible for her. The book is divided into three sections, where each section gives an increasingly in depth summary of nt Greek. This is a great idea; if you only want to know the basics, do section 1. If you want to know a little more, perhaps do section 2 as well. Section 3 starts to get into the basics that you would hit in a first year text book. This is not a replacement for a first year textbook; this is for someone who doesn't want to commit to a first year textbook. For a extra fee, you can order helpful videos done by the author himself.

VERY GOOD FOR ITS PURPOSE, SOME RESERVATIONS
Format: Paperback
To same space, WM= William Mounce. BBG=Basic Biblical Greek Grammar. This is an expanded edition of the earlier book of the same name. One will recognize many elements of the author's BBG, but this is more of "how to use Greek for exegesis" so it doesn't have a lot of paradigms etc. WM even puts in the "professor" character from the BBG 3rd ed. He has chapters on word studies, translations, textual criticism, advice on how to use commentaries, etc. It's written at an elementary level so it's an excellent guide for someone just wanting to understand more deeply the scriptures, or to check the accuracy of translations. If one wants to go more in depth, he/she can consult the intermediate grammars like Gerald L. Stevens or Wallace (that one is really detailed!). WM divides the book into sections of increasing depth - Fundamental Greek, Church G., & Functional G. He deals with verbal aspect in several places. He says tenses do have the time element in the indicative mood, but it's second to aspect. Outside the indicative, only aspect is a factor. The 3 are UNDEFINED, CONTINUOUS, and (traditional perfect) complete w/ continuing results. Whether the traditional perf/pluperfect is THE meaning of the tense, or an aktionsart, I will leave to the reader. Sometimes these 2 tenses represent a state. The traditional perfect is there much of the time, determined by the meaning of the verb and context. One should look at how the verbs are actually used (sometimes it's really hard to tell why the perfect was used). Perhaps the old proverb applies to Greek i.e. "the only hard and fast rule, is that there are NO hard and fast rules". The book is helpful for students of the word. One can learn the plan of salvation from good translations, but knowledge of the Greek can answer questions, like the seeming contradiction between (ROM 3:23 & 1 JOHN 1:08,10) with (1 JOHN 3:06,09). Or the question of why Jesus told Thomas to touch Him, but said to Mary "touch Me not" in (JOHN 20:17). Understanding the (normally) continuous/repeated of action of the present tense can answer these questions. I believe the book has a few flaws (thus 4 stars). I think WM gets some things wrong, like when he says a commentator should never say something in the Bible is clear or obvious. One might say this about figurative language - like REVELATION, but if the Bible isn't clear about say, what one must do to go to Heaven, then what's the point? Also WM says on pg 126 (2nd "dot") a student can't "argue" with a commentator or a translator - he/she doesn't know enough Greek. One doesn't have to be a scholar to be able to see when someone is putting in his/her own theology (at least there are enough clear passages in the Bible that one shouldn't have to). The great scholar A.T. Robertson mentions this on pg 389 of his "big book" - there comes a point when grammar stops and theology takes over. Even WM says there're commentaries he doesn't recommend. I recommend the book. As to the few problems, always remember what Douglas K. Stuart said in his book on commentaries "just because one is a PHD, doesn't NECESSARLY mean that he/she is right and you're wrong". Always let the Bible speak for itself.

Greek for the Rest of Us
Format: Paperback
I wish I had had this book when I first started New Testament Greek back many years ago. (I'm sure my grades would have been better, and my understanding much better.) I got this book to brush up on my Greek and it has helped a great deal.
