Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In was one of TV’s classics, one of those rare programs which was not only an overnight sensation, but was highly innovative, created a raft of new stars, and started trends in comedy which other programs would soon follow.

Hosted “from beautiful downtown Burbank” by nightclub comedians Dan Rowan (the straight-man) and Dick Martin, this wacky series provided a contemporary, fast-paced, unstructured comedy that was exactly what an agitated America wanted in 1968.

Laugh-In was first seen as a one-time special on 9 September 9, 1967. It was such a rating hit that it inevitably led to a series. Its lightning-fast pace took full advantage of the technical capabilities of television and videotape. Blackouts, sketches, one-liners, and cameo appearances by famous celebrities and even national politicians were all edited into a frenetic whole.

The show built up a devoted following, eager for such catchphrases as “Verrry interesting . . .”, “Is that a chicken joke?”, “Here come de judge” "You bet your sweet bippy! and “Sock it to me!”.

The regular cast was large and the turnover high, and of the 40 regulars only four were in it from beginning to end, the two hosts, announcer Gary Owens, and Ruth Buzzi.

Judy Carne was the ‘Sock it to me’ girl, and other regulars included Arte Johnson as the German Soldier, peering out from behind a potted palm; Ruth Buzzi as the little old lady with an umbrella, forever whacking the equally decrepit old man who snuggled up beside her on a park bench, and Lily Tomlin as both the sarcastic, nasal telephone operator named Ernestine (pictured at right) and Edith Anne, a child philosopher whose catchphrase was “and that’s the truth”.

Gary Owens was the outrageously over modulated announcer, facing the microphone, hand cupped over ear; Alan Sues was the grinning moron of a sports announcer, and Goldie Hawn the eternally giggling dumb blonde. Hawn’s dumb blonde image on Laugh-In came about unintentionally. She says; “When I first started, I was so nervous that I would look at the cue cards and get all mixed up. The producer loved it and said to keep it that way”.

The series also featured the talents of Jo Anne Worley, Alan Sues, Henry Gibson and Teresa Graves.

Laugh-In carried jokes about subjects like drugs, death, and homosexuality – pretty daring for 1968, particularly for Americans. Nevertheless, the show attracted star guests like John Wayne and even presidential candidate Richard Nixon. Nixon went on during the 1968 election campaign to say, “sock it to me”.

Some of the devices of the show were the Cocktail Party, Letters to Laugh-In, The Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award, ‘Laugh-In Looks at the News’, the gags written on the undulating body of a girl in a bikini, and the joke wall at the close of each show, in which cast members kept popping out of windows to throw each other one-liners – or a bucket of water.

Not until Saturday Night Live would another television variety show ensemble leave such a firm imprint on the evolution of American comedy.

This 37-DVD set features the complete six season series.

Fantastic keyboard!
Color: Navy Blue, Color: Navy Blue
Pleasantly surprised!! And less than half the price of an ipad folio keyboard - I know, one feels like one has to stay in brand. So I was nervous about buying a keyboard that wasn't made by Apple. But to be honest, the Apple keyboards and mice have betrayed me on numerous occasions. They have not earned my loyalty and need to reassess their dubious life choices. I needed a protective cover to stop my cats doom scrolling while I am asleep. I am OK with them using the internet - even though I have had random people text me back a picture of a large feline left nostril and just the letters WFT? It is what it is. I think they are little geniuses. But they scratch the ipad surface which is annoying. So I thought, what the heck - I am about to do my RN-BSN online and need a way to make my ipad transportable while protected, and set up so I can easily bang out some homework assignments on the run. Easy set up! What a relief! Tech usually hates me - sees me coming from a mile off and starts planning to at best ruin my day, and at worst have me calling my therapist. At first I started reading the instructions and my teeth hurt from the bad translation into English. But even with that negative energy I was able to set it up very quickly. Everything just WORKED!! I know. I set a low bar. These days one has to. This time I didn't need to. The cover is sturdy, soft and coffee resistant, thank goodness. The keyboard just plops on, connects through magic and immediately makes me feel like I am not as stupid as I thought! Absolutely recommend this wonderful keyboard - I dunno who do this voodoo but I am very excited. Crack on my lovelies! Make those dreams a reality.

Great product!
Color: Light Pink, Color: Light Pink
I really love this. The baby pink is so cute! I had my hesitations because I couldn’t see if the pink would be as good in real life. It’s like a soft blush color. Honestly, I was going to drop $350 on the Magic Keyboard for my iPad Air. Which is ridiculously expensive. This is a way better alternative. It fits my iPad pen. The iPad itself fits perfectly. I thought the keyboard was going to be tacky and cheap. But it’s pretty legit too. I love that when I’m done using the iPad, the whole case protects everything, even the keyboard inside and especially the camera lense. The magic key board does not have that feature. Like that it’s magnetic too. The material is so soft to touch. I can see how it can get dirty with ink spot if not careful. Overall, really happy with this purchase!

Sleek, Functional, and Feels Like a Laptop Replacement
Color: Navy Blue
I’m really impressed with this keyboard case. The magnetic attachment is strong and secure, and the keyboard connects quickly without any issues. The trackpad is smooth and responsive, which makes using the iPad feel almost like a laptop. The backlit keys are a great touch, especially with the different color options, and the lighting is even and easy on the eyes. The case itself feels well made and protective, and I like that it’s stain resistant because it stays looking clean. The navy blue color looks sleek and professional. It fits my iPad perfectly and doesn’t add unnecessary bulk. Battery life has also been solid so far. Overall, this is a great value for the quality and features you get. Highly recommend if you want a reliable keyboard case that’s both functional and stylish.

Fairly Priced and Fairly Nice iPad Pro Case
Color: Light Pink
I was on the hunt for a case for my iPad Pro (6th generation), and let me tell you, it was a wild ride! I scoured every review I could find, but it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The ones that were reasonably priced had all sorts of issues, and the ones that looked fancy were way too expensive and had just as many problems. Now, I know what you might be thinking: “You get what you pay for, right?” Well, I was determined to find a case that fit my budget and didn’t have too many complaints. After hours of searching, I finally stumbled upon a case that seemed to be a reasonable match. Here’s why I picked this one: It has most of the features I wanted. It covers the lens on the back of the iPad, and there’s a holder on top for the pencil allowing it to charge. I’ve gone through two cases before, and they all started to wear out pretty quickly. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on another case that would just fall apart so I found this one to be reasonably priced. The case itself is nice and sturdy, and it’s a great fit for my iPad. I charged the keyboard for the recommended 5 hours before I first used it, and I haven’t had a chance to test the battery life yet. But after charging, it was a breeze to connect it to my iPad. A little heads up: the connect button is actually the “C” on the keyboard, not the command or control key. I know, I know, confusing! But once you press the keys, Bluetooth turns on, and connection to the iPad went without any issues. I’ve seen some reviews mentioning that special characters weren’t working or that the keyboard would just stop working randomly. But so far, everything seems to be working perfectly. I’ll definitely update this review if anything changes. One thing I really like about this keyboard case is that once it’s connected, you don’t have to reconnect it again. That’s a huge plus! Another cool feature is that the instructions for pairing and using the keyboard are right on the bottom of the keyboard, which is super handy. Pros: - style and fit. - different angles for propping iPad while typing or watching videos - instructions for pairing and use on the bottom of the keyboard, Cons: - The only downside I’ve found so far is that you can’t swivel the iPad from landscape to portrait because the case doesn’t allow for that movement. For me this is a minor inconvenience, because I just close the case and turn it to portrait. If that’s important to you, then this might not be the case for you. Another thing I have noticed is that sometime while I am typing, and I type fast, I will hit something and get dragged somewhere else on the screen. I think this is a user inspired issue, but it is not that big a deal for me. Overall, this is a good functional case with a pretty good keyboard and iPad protection. I’m giving it 4 stars explained below. My Stars Explained 5 - Like finding money in your old coat pocket - pure joy! 4 - Almost perfect - like a pizza with just one missing topping. 3 - Like a movie that’s just okay—neither a blockbuster nor a total flop 2 - Like a blind date that went horribly wrong - cringeworthy. 1 - Like stepping on a Lego in the dark - painful.
