Наталена Королева (1888–1966) — талановита українська письменниця з непростим життям, повним випробувань і несподіваних поворотів.

В автобіографічній повісті 'Без коріння' (1936) авторка описує своє повернення до Києва після багатьох років, проведених у монастирі на Півдні Франції. Головні події розгортаються в київському інституті шляхетних дівчат, де вона, на бажання мачухи, продовжує освіту. У творі яскраво змальовано систему навчання в цьому закладі, вдачу викладачів, взаємини між товаришками-інститутками.

У повісті '1313' (1935) описано життєвий шлях німця Бертольда Шварца. Обдарований син-одинак заможного шляхтича тікає в монастир від свавілля батька, щоб проводити тут свої дослідження, однак стикається із сильними душевними випробуваннями.
