Best known for his many magazine articles on gunsmithing topics, Peter Alexander has written this gun maker's manual on Building the American Longrifle.

Written for both the novice, and the master gun builder, the author explains the basics of each task, and then he delves into the minutia of the interesting variations. This 402 page volume gives him the freedom to express his views, share his discoveries, and expand our understanding far beyond simple basics. Only hands-on work at the bench will get you closer to longrifle building, than this new instruction manual.

The author introduces several of the first American gun makers, describing their arrival in America, their apprenticeship, training, known residences, and explaining how the surrounding gun makers may have influenced their style.

Inletting, shaping, sculpting, tuning, polishing, and fitting parts is the main topic of the text and photos, but the artistic expression and style of the old makers is the reason we learn these techniques. We honor the work of the early gunmakers, when we treasure and protect the original guns they made, and when we replicate them for our use.

With forty chapters, each important topic is explained in detail. Lock geometry is only one of a great many areas discussed in detail.

You need not build a longrifle to benefit from a better understanding of the internal geometry of flint and percussion locks. Every muzzle loading shooter and gun owner will appreciate Mr. Alexander's information, opinions, and insights.

Repairing and restoring replica and original antique guns requires more than the simple installation of new parts. A knowledge of correct geometry, function, and the correct style for the period depicted, are essential tools of the truly skilled gunsmith.

Filled with line art, sketches, and some photography, a few of the photographs are reproduced in color, to depict the stain color, figure, and finish of fine old American longrifles.

Do not trust sizing or measuents
Color: Black, Size: 32W x 30L
Sizing way off. Can barely fit on and no where close to buttoning. Same pant measurements in another pant bought at the same time no problem. Sizing and measurements off.

real leather, comfortable, size up 1/2 size to avoid the breaking in process, its beautifully made!
Size: 10.5, Color: Medium Natural Nubuck
They fit perfectly. They are the best pair of shoes My husband's ever wore! the smell of that new leather is incredible. It is real leather, not imitation leather. It's a little tight across the top portion of his foot right before his toes start, but I believe that can be stretched out, they just have to be broken in. they are so classy and snazzy. The front of the toe part is a little darker than the rest. But it Kind of blends in fades into the rest of the leather. It will scratch easily. So you have to be careful, it's real leather. It's soft but not like felt soft and its shiny. This is the kind of shoe you actually need The old school shoe Polish in a buffer cloth. I didn't think that we would like or he would like the white soul but it does not look bad like I thought it would be. It does not stand out. It blends right in perfectly with the shoe. Any of their color would have not matched. If you're on the fence about this nice dress, you don't be. this name Shoe actually lives up to its reputation. It was incredible and no, I'm not just saying that. if it sucked, I would say so. it's a great shoe in every way. It has a cushioned soft leather insole. It's a little thinner piece of velour feeling leather In the instep. It is such a great shoe definitely worth the purchase. The size does fit. He wears a 10 and a 1/2. That's what we got, and that fits perfectly. I think he could have gotten 11 and got away with it, so he wouldn't have to break the top portion in. But there's plenty of toe room, it's just where your outer edge of your foot an the bone, right before your big toe, so like I said, right across the widest portion of your foot needs to be stretched out broken in. once he breaks that in the shoe fits perfectly. so you can size up half a size you probably can get away with it, just fine God bless!

High quality comfortable shoes from Rockport
Size: 13 Wide, Color: Grey Nubuck, Size: 13 Wide, Color: Grey Nubuck
I've been a fan of Rockport shoes since buying my first pair in the 1980's. I actually still have that pair and had them resoled once. This shoe has the style and profile of a dress shoe but is finished in a nice smooth suede-like grey color. Typical of Rockport shoes, they are flexible and lightweight. The upper is genuine leather, something getting harder to find in reasonably priced quality shoes. That should make these more durable than artificial leather. The insole is sculpted and soft with just a bit of memory foam padding with good arch support. They are removable and I assume replaceable. The soles are flexible and grippy, and the heel is low and comfortable. I ordered my usual size, 13W and they fit well, just a tiny bit tight on the top where they lace if wearing thick socks until they stretch a bit. Due to the shape of the toe box they look a little long, but there is plenty of toe space. These were very comfortable, true to size, well made and very nice looking shoes. I expect them to be durable and last a long time as all of my other Rockport shoes have in the past. These would look great with jeans or khaki's or even with more dressy clothing, they can be casual or dressy. Even though these are well made and genuine leather with Rockport's reputation for comfort and quality they cost less than many sneakers.

Rockport makes great shoe wear
Size: 11.5 Wide, Color: Dark Taupe Suede
I have owned Rockport shoes before and this pair lives up to the brand’s reputation for comfort. Right out of the box they felt broken in with very little adjustment period. The genuine leather upper looks nice and gives the shoe a more polished appearance than many casual options while still being comfortable enough for daily wear. The cushioning is one of the strongest features. The truTECH system does a good job absorbing impact and provides noticeable comfort during long days on my feet. The removable insoles add versatility and make it easy to customize the fit or use orthotics if needed. The quality appears very good with clean stitching and solid construction throughout. The leather feels durable and should age well with normal use. Ease of use is excellent since they slip on easily and require very little maintenance beyond occasional cleaning and conditioning. Size was accurate for me and the availability of different widths is a major advantage. Compatibility with different foot shapes is often overlooked but Rockport does a good job here. Value for money is strong considering the comfort quality and durability. Overall these are comfortable well-made shoes that work equally well for the office casual outings or everyday wear.
