Open this set and you get two knives that belong together — one Damascus, one polished trailing point, both built for real outdoor work.

The stag bone handles feel warm and textured in your palm. Natural grip. No slipping.

This is what a proper Nessmuk style knife set looks and feels like.

Damascus and Trailing Point in One Nessmuk Knife Set

This Nessmuk style knife set includes two blades — each made for a different task.

The first is a 200-layer Damascus blade. We layer 1080 and 15N20 high-carbon steel, fold it by hand, and forge it into the classic Nessmuk profile. It hardens to 55–58 HRC. The acid-etched finish reveals a flowing Damascus pattern that runs the full length.

The second is a polished trailing point blade. The spine curves upward toward the tip — that geometry is built for skinning, slicing, and detail work where precision matters. The polished finish gives it a clean, sharp look and a mirror-like surface.

What It Does and Why It Matters

The trailing point knife in this set is the detail knife. The upswept tip reaches into tight spaces — behind joints, under hide, along curves.

Trailing point knife uses include skinning game, filleting fish, and fine prep work where a straight edge is too blunt. The tip does the leading work. The belly does the slicing.

Together, the two blades in this Nessmuk style knife set cover every cutting task from rough field work to fine finishing.

Stag Bone Grip That Gets Better With Use

Both knives in this handcrafted knife set use stag bone handles. Real stag bone — not synthetic, not resin-coated.

The texture is natural and slightly rough. Bare hand or gloved, your grip locks in without effort. Stag bone doesn't go smooth with use — it stays grippy.

The color runs cream to brown with natural darker streaks. No two handles look identical. That's what natural material does.

Full Tang on Both Knives

Both knives in this Nessmuk knife set run full tang. Steel goes from blade tip to handle end — one solid piece on each knife.

Full tang matters here because both blades see real force — chopping, skinning, prying. A partial tang fails under that stress. Full tang handles it without flexing or cracking.

The balance point sits at the bolster on both knives. Each one feels steady in hand — not tip-heavy, not handle-heavy.

Carry Both Knives Together

This Nessmuk style knife set ships with leather sheaths for both blades. The fit is firm on each — blades seat fully with no rattle or movement.

The leather is thick and hand-stitched. It protects both edges during storage, travel, and field carry.

Draw each knife one-handed. Both pull clean from the first use.

Why Hunters and Outdoorsmen Choose This Set

The Nessmuk style knife was designed by woodsman George Washington Sears in the 1800s for wilderness use. This set follows that tradition — two blades that work together in the field.

Use the Damascus Nessmuk for heavy camp tasks — batoning, chopping, rough prep. Use the trailing point knife for skinning game, breaking down cuts, or fine detail work.

A machine-made handcrafted knife set is ground to a standard profile. These blades are hand-forged — each edge geometry is shaped by a craftsman who understands how these knives actually get used.

The JW SteelCrafts Difference

Every knife in this Nessmuk style knife set is hand-forged. No two Damascus patterns are the same. No two stag bone handles look identical.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Hunters who need two knives for one trip — a heavy blade for camp work and a trailing point knife for skinning and detail cuts

Outdoorsmen and bushcrafters who follow the Nessmuk tradition and want a handcrafted knife set built for real wilderness use

Collectors who want a matched Damascus and trailing point set with stag bone handles — not a factory pair

Gift buyers who want something meaningful, handmade, and built to last — for Father's Day, Christmas, or a serious outdoorsman's birthday

HOW TO USE Your Nessmuk Style Knife Set

Use the Damascus Nessmuk blade for heavy tasks first — batoning wood, rough chopping, breaking down large cuts of meat or game.

Switch to the trailing point knife for detail work — skinning, filleting, or any cut where the tip needs to lead.

Hold both knives with a full-palm grip, thumb resting on the spine for control on fine cuts. The stag bone handle fills your hand and stays firm even when wet.

For trailing point knife uses like skinning, lead with the upswept tip. Insert it just under the hide and draw back in smooth strokes — let the belly do the slicing.

Keep both blades sharp separately. The Damascus edge needs a whetstone. The polished trailing point responds well to a fine ceramic rod.

HOW TO CARE FOR Your Nessmuk Style Knife Set

After every use:

  • Hand-wash both knives with warm water and mild soap
  • Dry immediately with a clean cloth — never air dry either blade
  • Never put this handcrafted knife set in the dishwasher

Every few weeks:

  • Apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil to both blades
  • Pay extra attention to the Damascus blade — the etched surface traps moisture
  • Wipe off excess oil with a dry cloth

Storage:

  • Keep each stag bone handle knife in its own leather sheath
  • Store both in a dry place — humidity is the fastest way to rust high-carbon steel

Sharpening your Nessmuk style knife set:

  • Use a whetstone at 1000 grit for the Damascus blade — finish at 3000 grit
  • Use a fine ceramic rod for the polished trailing point blade
  • Hold each blade at 15–20 degrees against the sharpening surface
  • Strop on leather after each session to realign both edges

Tip: Sharpen both knives after every field trip — don't wait until they're noticeably dull.

FAQs About This Nessmuk Style Knife Set

Q: What steel are the blades in this Nessmuk style knife set made from? A: This set includes two blades. The first is hand-forged from 200-layer Damascus steel — 1080 and 15N20 high-carbon steel hardened to 55–58 HRC. The second is a polished trailing point blade made from high-carbon steel. Both hold a sharp working edge through field and camp use.

Q: What are the trailing point knife uses in this set? A: The trailing point knife is built for skinning game, filleting fish, and fine prep work. The upswept tip reaches into tight spaces — behind joints and under hide — where a straight blade can't go cleanly. It's the detail knife in the set. The Damascus Nessmuk handles the heavier work.

Q: Does this handcrafted knife set come with sheaths?

Yes. Both knives in this Nessmuk style knife set ship with individual hand-stitched leather sheaths. Each sheath fits its blade firmly — no rattle, no loose fit. The leather protects both edges during storage, travel, and field carry. Both knives draw one-handed and clean.

Q: Is a Nessmuk style knife set legal to own in the USA?

Yes. Fixed-blade hunting and camp knives are legal to own in all 50 US states. Carry laws vary by state and location. We ship from Texas with no ownership restrictions. Check your local carry laws before transporting these knives in public or across state lines.

Q: How do I sharpen the blades in this Nessmuk knife set?

Sharpen the Damascus Nessmuk blade on a whetstone — start at 1000 grit, finish at 3000 grit. Sharpen the polished trailing point with a fine ceramic rod. Hold each blade at 15–20 degrees. Strop on leather after sharpening to realign the edge. Keep both blades sharp after every field use.

Q: Can I customize this stag bone handle knife set?

Yes. JW SteelCrafts accepts custom orders. You can choose different handle materials — rosewood, bone, pakka wood, resin, or olive wood — on either blade. Contact us before ordering to confirm options. Custom handcrafted knife sets take longer to build but arrive exactly as specified.

Q: How long will this Nessmuk style knife set last?

With proper care — hand-washing, drying immediately, and monthly oiling — both blades last decades. Full tang construction on both knives means no weak joint to fail in the field. The stag bone handles get better with use. Many JW SteelCrafts buyers treat their knives as lifetime tools.

Q: Is this a good gift for a hunter or outdoorsman?

Yes — especially for someone who spends real time in the field. This Nessmuk style knife set is handmade, so no two sets look identical. The Damascus and trailing point combination gives them two tools in one gift. It ships presentation-ready — no extra wrapping needed.

GIFT Purpose

This Nessmuk style knife set makes a strong gift for Father's Day, Christmas, a hunting season opener, or a groomsman who lives outdoors.

Two handmade blades — Damascus and trailing point — with stag bone handles that look and feel like nothing from a store shelf.

It ships presentation-ready — no extra wrapping needed.

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat. It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.
