Weserware Pot with Double HandlesThis pot is inspired by Weser (pronounced VAY sar) ware from northern Germany at the end of the 16th century. The particular pot that inspired me, (see last photo in this listing) was excavated from the site of an early 17th century church in Jamestown, Virginia, and was made of red clay with a coggle decoration, covered with white slip, a clear lead glaze, and a colorful striped pattern. This pot is inspired by Weser (pronounced VAY-sar) ware from northern Germany at the end of the 16th century. The particular pot that inspired me, (see last photo in this listing) was excavated from the site of an early 17th century church in Jamestown, Virginia, and was made of red clay with a coggle decoration, covered with white slip, a clear lead glaze, and a colorful striped pattern. No doubt this pot was made for food storage, but I think the form will adapt itself well to being a beautiful flowerpot.
