The HPE PM1733 3.84 TB Solid State Drive is an enterprise-grade internal NVMe SSD crafted for data centers that demand relentless Read Intensive (RI) performance, reliability, and efficiency. Built to power read-heavy workloads with exceptional consistency, this drive accelerates caching, bulk storage, email systems, social media platforms, and boot/swap operations while delivering high IOPS and low latency. Designed for modern backplanes and U.3 configurations, the PM1733 RI is a robust backbone for demanding enterprise environments that require fast, predictable access to vast datasets without compromising on reliability or energy efficiency.

  • High-capacity, Read-Intensive performance: With 3.84 TB of dedicated storage, this RI-class SSD excels at read-centric workloads, ensuring rapid access to frequently queried data, improved caching effectiveness, and faster boot and swap operations across dense server environments.
  • PCIe 4.0 NVMe interface for speed and efficiency: Leveraging PCIe Gen4 x4 and NVMe connectivity, the PM1733 delivers higher peak bandwidth and lower latency than older generations, enabling smoother handling of concurrent read requests and faster data delivery to applications and virtual machines.
  • Reliable, enterprise-grade design: Engineered for data centers, this drive emphasizes endurance, data integrity, and consistent performance under heavy read workloads, with features that help protect data during power events and reduce risk of bit errors during operation.
  • Flexible deployment in U.3 backplanes: The internal U.3 form factor supports seamless integration into modern server backplanes and storage arrays, enabling straightforward installation, easy swapping, and compatibility with a wide range of enterprise infrastructure.
  • Energy-efficient operation for data-center efficiency: Optimized power management and thermal characteristics help lower overall energy consumption, contributing to reduced operating costs and cooler, quieter server environments.

how to install HPE PM1733 3.84 TB Solid State Drive

  • Power down the server and unplug the power source. Ground yourself to prevent static discharge before handling the drive.
  • Open the server or storage chassis and locate a compatible U.3 drive slot or backplane bay designed for PCIe NVMe SSDs.
  • Remove any existing drive or placeholder, then align the PM1733 with the backplane connectors and slide it into place until the retention mechanism engages.
  • Secure the drive with the appropriate screws or latch, reseat any cables as required, and reassemble the chassis according to your server’s maintenance procedure.
  • Power on the system, enter the server’s firmware or BIOS, and verify that the PM1733 is detected by the NVMe controller. In the operating system, initialize, partition, and format the drive as needed for your workload, then configure any desired caching or storage policies.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What workloads is the PM1733 RI best suited for? A: It excels in read-heavy environments such as read caching, large-scale content delivery, social media data access, bulk storage repositories, email storage, and boot/swap disks where high IOPS and low latency improve application responsiveness.
  • Q: Is this drive compatible with standard U.3 backplanes? A: Yes. The PM1733 RI is designed for internal U.3 backplanes common in enterprise servers, making it suitable for deployment in a wide range of data-center configurations.
  • Q: Does it support hot-swapping? A: When installed in a compatible backplane or server chassis, the PM1733 RI supports hot-swap operations, enabling non-disruptive maintenance and drive replacement in supported environments.
  • Q: What about reliability and data integrity? A: The drive includes enterprise-grade reliability features designed to protect data integrity during operation and power events, along with wear leveling optimized for read-intensive workloads to extend usable life.
  • Q: How should I configure this drive in a data-center environment? A: Use standard NVMe management and OS-level formatting. Consider implementing read caching configurations, caching tier strategies, and back-end storage policies that maximize the RI performance benefits for your specific workloads.

Made a difference for wrist comfort and happy with purchase
Size: 100% Standard, Size: 100% Standard
A nice leather cushion that fits perfect with keyboard. Definitely made a difference in wrist comfort. Good price and well made. A simple item done right and happy with purchase. I was hesitant as it said a frequently returned item. I dont see reason to return. Im guessing most people didnt get the correct size.

Simple and Straightforward Wrist Rest
Size: 60% Compact
There's not much to write home about here other than it suits the purposes I purchased it for. This accompanies my K629-RGB Redragon keyboard. It lines up pretty well with the keyboard, and the rest itself makes a nice incline between my desk surface and the keyboard. The padding isn't too plush and is pretty good at providing wrist support. It's also been very good at holding its shape despite the pressure that my wrists have put in the same spot over the last few months; the padding is even across the entire wrist rest as a result. I've noticed that my hand doesn't cramp as much when typing for long periods of time with this rest, so it's doing exactly what I would expect for the ergonomics of my keyboard. One downside is that it's prone to develop sweat marks where you rest your palms. It can't really be wiped away, given that it gets absorbed over time. I would say that if you are concerned with the appearance of the product, you may want to look into a plastic rest instead. I personally don't find this to be much of an issue since the pad is black, and you can only see the marks at certain angles, but I can understand if that's a dealbreaker for some. Otherwise, the rest of the pad is easily cleaned. I usually use a handheld vacuum to tackle dust and crumbs that stick onto the sides and bottom of the pad. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has a compact keyboard without a built-in hand rest. The pad is perfectly sized for my needs and provides the support that I need for my work. If you're hesitant about dealing with a product that may stain, look into plastic wrist rests instead.

comfy, not rigid and would recommend
Size: 60% Compact
it has some slip resistance though I see it slightly sliding every so often, it's obviously easy to install just place it there ha-ha, sturdy and comfortable. good support, I settled for this because I got it for 5 bucks not bad at all, it's about a half inch smaller than my keyboard (it says the size, so I knew that prior to purchasing so its sizing is correct as stated, a good thing) I should mention my desk is hard wood with some scratches in it so some of my other things slide too so I can't say its slip resistance is bad even with it slightly shifting every so often I'm sure it will be better for your desks too. here its barley slides so I'm sure it will stick in place like glue on your desks (aka wont slide you can easily move it if you wanted). I looked at the reviews saying this thing was rigid or not enough cushion, I feel like it's not too little not too much, not rigid, don't know what they are talking about, anyways I would definitely recommend.

Feels nice and looks great
Size: 80% Tenkeyless, Size: 80% Tenkeyless
I bought this wrist rest in like new condition for $6 and I will say it’s 100% worth MSRP at $15-20. The weight is nice, it doesn’t slip on my mousepad. It’s very comfortable to rest my palms and wrist on. The sizing pairs well with my 80% keyboard. It functions as it should. I use this at a stand up desk on an industrial shop floor to help put my wrist at a better angle and it works perfect.

Decent; does the job
Size: 100% Standard
Cushion feels very porous and thin. I suppose you can call it memory foam because it basically sunk where I usually rest my wrist and has not returned to its original shape (lol). The small rubber pads on the underside help a bit but slip resistance would probably be better if they covered a larger area. Overall, it's not bad for sub $20 full size kb wrist rest.
