"Colombia spawned several big band tropical orchestras in the 1930s and 40s, perhaps the most famous being those of Lucho Bermúdez, Pacho Galán, Edmundo Arias, Pedro Laza, and Crescencio Camacho. Their wall of sound combining a battery of brass, woodwinds and reeds, multiple vocalists and prominent percussion was overwhelming and eventually became all the rage with middle- and upper-class audiences from the dance hall to the hotel ballroom, from the Victrola to the radio. This formula was a match made in heaven, combining elements of the big urban swing jazz bands of the USA with the typical rhythms of Colombia's tropical coastal regions and other Caribbean locales like Cuba and Puerto Rico. Into this scene came Rafael 'Lito' Barrientos (1915-2008), an orchestra leader and trombonist originally from Armenia, El Salvador who began by playing the marimba salvadoreña in a 'costumbrista' folkloric band in his home country, but who soon took up the trombone and the conductor's baton and eventually found international success by adopting, and adapting, the previously mentioned big band tropical format. Having founded his orchestra in 1945. Barrientos traveled throughout North, Central and South America, picking up influences and musicians along the way, staying for a fruitful period in Colombia, where he recorded the extremely popular LP Very Very Well for Medellín's Discos Fuentes in 1965, following that up with Ritmos Costeños (released by Fuentes as well), but debuted in Colombia some time earlier with Pimienta on the Barranquilla-based Tropical label. Significantly, Barrientos was the composer of that perennially popular classic of tropical music, 'Cumbia en do menor' (Very Very Well contains the definitive version) and if he had achieved nothing else, this accomplishment might perhaps have been enough to enshrine him in the annals of cumbia history forever. But the award-winning Barrientos also composed hits such as 'Son guanaco' and 'Pájaro picón' and frequently experimented with new sounds, never dedicating himself solely to the cumbia... While in Colombia in the mid-1960s, he found great success with his assimilation of styles like cumbia and porro, but also included Cuban charanga, Puerto Rican bomba and Mexican corrido in his repertoire, making for a very diverse selection of moods and flavors, a recipe that was sure to satisfy the eclectic tastes of his international audiences..." -Pablo Yglesias, aka DJ Bongohead Part of Vampisoul's reissue series of classic Fuentes LPs. Presented in facsimile artwork and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

Dog loves it and it's very durable, but not indestructible
I have a dog with very strong jaws. She's only thirty-five pounds but she goes through most toys like they're bubblegum. Even as a small puppy, she would destroy anything and everything. By the age of five or six months we had to give up on soft and rope toys altogether, and at a year old, she is limited to only hard chews like Kong, Nylabone, etc. Even then, she destroys most of these with relative ease. She's gone through chews others have recommended as long-lasting in literally ten minutes. The only toy she has that has lasted more than a month or so is her original red Kong, which she mostly licks instead of chews.
I initially bought the dinosaur for my other, less toy-murderous dog, but the power chewer quickly stole it from him. She was in love. She carried it everywhere and chewed on it constantly. I'm not sure if it's the shape or the texture she likes, or some combination thereof, but whatever the case, it instantly became her favorite. Even the most durable hard toys normally only last a few weeks with her, but her dino is going on two or three months now. It's chewed beyond recognition, all the nubs worn down, and it's very rapidly nearing the end of its life because little bits of plastic are falling off, but it still lasted far longer than most toys do. A few weeks ago I bought her a second one, in a different shape, and she's equally as enamored with it. All in all, it's not going to be indestructible if you have a power chewer, but it certainly lasts a heck of a lot longer than most!

Tough enough to Survive the big, bad CHARLIE!
I purchased this for my 80 pound yellow lab, Charlie.
Charlie is a very powerful chewer. Toys typically last about 2.3 seconds in his grasp.
Since Charlie's toy budget had ballooned to a point where I had to choose whether to fulfill his appetite for destruction, or pay the mortgage, I knew something had to change.
This is how I came across this nylabone chew. It appeared tough enough that charlie may get at least an hour of play from this toy before it was destroyed. The price was reasonable enough that it fit within what was left of the depleted toy budget. So I bought it.
Two quick days later, and the box arrived. I gave the package to Charlie, and told him it was another new toy for him to destroy. The smell of the nylabone vented through the cardboard, and he started to wag. He tore open the box and found the bone inside. At this point, he is elated. I removed the packaging and told him to go at it.
That was weeks ago, and the dinosaur bone still has yet to be defeated. Sure, it is missing a few spines, and his tail is heavily chewed, but the bone is not yet destroyed. That isn't from a lack on trying on Charlie's part. He chews on the bone almost daily, and hasn't gotten tired of it yet!
If you have a big dog who's toy budget is getting out of control, buy this bone! Small bits will come off here and there, so if your dog likes to eat what he destroys, keep an eye on him. However, all of the small bits that have come off Charlie's bone thus far are small enough that they should pass no problem.
A great bone, and if they release similar bones in the future, Charlie will be a happy customer.

Dogs who chew will love this!
I have a puggle who chews all of the time, and she has been through a variety of Nylabone products, all of which she absolutely loved. I am a huge fan of anything Nylabone, and when I saw this one, I immediately had to get it for her because not only did it look like something she would love, but the design promotes good dental health. She has had it for a month now, and she is constantly chewing on it. Not only has it helped to keep her teeth clean, but it is much more durable than other Nylabone toys. She chews it every day, carries it around and drops it all over the place, and it has barely worn at all. I highly recommend this toy for dogs who love to chew!
I do have to share one negative to this toy though.... if your dog likes you to "tug" with them for their toys, this one isn't for you. It hurts to grab and pull on it. Not much of a negative, but I want to give a fair review, so if you are looking for a strong tug toy, go with a smooth surfaced large Nylabone and save your hands some pain :)

Can't choose the dino... sad!
I have a beagle/jack russel mix. Needless to say, he is very high-energy and does best when given a job to do that involves chewing.
He LOVES his Novabone and Nylabone- but tears thru the larger sizes in a single afternoon- so when I saw this I was very happy, because it is an unusual shape and durable! Amazon's iphone app let you scan in an item and find it cheaper on Amazon- so instead of the higher pet shop price, I scored a savings deal on Amazon! Nice!
My big, fat, sad complaint is that you cannot CHOOSE the dinosaur! I knew this when ordering and the stegosaurus arrived- honestly I was hoping for the T-Rex or the Brontosaurus but I guess you get what you get. Still, a beagle gnawing on a T-Rex would be pretty funny...

Great Toy for Teething and Strong Chewer
Eli is now 10 months old, a labrador retriever that proves time and time again he needs toys that he can chew, but won't fall apart. He cannot have the stuffed animal toys (no, those he'll tear apart in SECONDS, never mind minutes). Aside from the Kong and the antler, this is the only toy he can chew on that won't fall apart. Even animal bones will split in minutes.
Since he was a couple of months old, he has loved this Dinosaur Chew Toy. When he was teething, I'd put it in the freezer (sometimes put peanut butter on it to keep his interest). It was not only great for teething, but also massaged his gums. Now that he's out of teething phase, he still loves to chew on it.
For the money, this is worth it. It's saved the furniture and the house from being chewed on, as he focused on this toy instead. Highly recommend, especially for the price. For any strong-chewing pup or dog in particular, this toy won't shatter, split or break apart.
