We put together this mallet set for sound therapists, percussionists, composers, and yoga instructors using 36" to 38" nickel silver symphonic gongs made in the European gongmaking tradition.
We included a range of mallets, sized specifically for 36" and 38" nickel gongs, meant to draw out the full range of sounds and subtleties these types of gongs can offer. Read about each of the mallets included below to find what each one provides.
The Ollihess L460 Mallet has a soft, weighted, synthetic wool-wrapped head. It has a light, wooden handle, perfectly balanced for the player. It brings a nice, deep fundamental tone while also highlighting harmonics and overtones, all without too much attack or "thunk" up-front or too much crash on the finish. Available in Turquoise, Berry, or Black.
The Unlimited Roller Coasters are a lightweight pair of rollers built with an elongated core that increases the surface contact with your gong in order to create gentle, slow controlled builds.
This Dragonfly Resonance Teal (Medium Soft) Sound Bath Mallet has a soft, lightweight head, with a soft layer of faux-fleece wrapped around a rubber core. It has lightweight, hickory wooden handle, offering lots of control to the player, with good response and fast response without too much clunking.
Our Unlimited Space Grapes Mallets have small, furry heads, with long, lightweight handles, making them perfect for doing gong rolls that build resonant swells without too much attack (or "thunk")
The Ollihess 60 mm Lava Friction Mallet has a textured black rubber head, designed specifically to prevent leaving rubber residue on the gong. It's perfect for creating mysterious whale noises.
