With charismatic singer Ziek McCarter bringing "the dance moves, splits and all, of James Brown" (KQED) and a band that "comes across like a party punk version of Sly and the Family Stone" (Consequence of Sound), Con Brio is known to convert anyone who sees their electric live show. Founded in 2013 by veteran players with vastly different musical backgrounds, the band quickly became a favorite up and down the West Coast, then across the U.S., and then overseas in places like Japan and the Netherlands. Explorer both builds on the success of Paradise and serves as a travelogue of sorts - a reflection on the two years of nearly nonstop touring that followed their first record's success. Having proved themselves on an international stage, Con Brio breaks new ground on Explorer, expanding beyond raw energy and retro sounds toward a more contemporary, layered production style, all delivered with road-tested confidence. Engaging story with beautiful art
Of all the Manga Classics artists, SunNeko Lee is by far my favorite. Her work perfectly accompanies Hawthorne's words, which have been expertly adapted to Manga by Crystal Chan. As an added bonus, there are a couple well timed moments of levity/humor in the artwork to go along with this otherwise somber story. I finished this book in three days because I couldn't put it down - an adaptation worth viewing for manga and novel enthusiasts alike.

Awesome introduction of classics to elementary children
We borrowed a bunch of Manga Classics from the library and The Scarlet Letter and Les Mis were my Grade 2 daughter's favorites. I read the books with them to discuss the faith and character issues. Included in the back are the artist and the writer's explanation on how they break down the novel into a manga format and translated the original ideas into drawings. What I love from these Manga Classics is that they didn't rewrite the content but pulled actual passages from the original text and added minor changes to make the storyline flow.
