Flint and Flame four-piece 'Vegetable Lover's' knife set.

A very useful, practical set of professional kitchen knives from Flint and Flame, perfect for preparing vegetables but equally suited to meat and poultry as well.

The four-piece vegetable set consists of the following four knives:

  • 8″ 20 cm Santoku knife.
  • 6" 15 cm Nakiri knife.
  • 5" 13 cm Utility knife.
  • 3.5″ 9 cm paring knife.

Each knife is supplied in a separate gift box.

8” 20 cm Santoku Knife: The bigger brother of the 6” Santoku. Being that little bit bigger, it will do a little bit more of the work for you. A better tool suited for your cabbages, swedes, and squashes. Having a longer blade means you saw at your food less, fewer strokes = less work. A great all-round knife.

6” 15 cm Nakiri Knife: The straight blade of the Nakiri allows you to cut all the way down to the chopping board, without the need for pulling or pushing. Its thin blade allows you to achieve a smooth, clean-cut through any vegetable, making it perfect for French cuts such as Julienne or Batonnet.

5″ 13 cm Utility Knife: A great, light slicer, this blade is both diverse and very easy to use. Its sharp point is perfect for piercing and intricate scoring, the ideal tool for crafting a 1970’s style tomato rose!

3.5″ 9 cm Paring Knife – A very useful vegetable knife and a must for every kitchen. Being a short blade, it is perfectly designed for peeling your potatoes, stringing your runner beans and tailing your sprouts. It’s also excellent for making clean and precise cuts in fruits.

Flin and Flame knife features:
Total knife control.
Precision cutting.
Centre point balance technology.
Zero pressure point design.
Beautifully contoured, ergonomically designed handle.
Highest quality German carbon steel.

So far so good
Color: Brown
I have had issues with other models/variations of the timex expedition in the past, so I was hesitant to get an even more expensive version of it, but I just really liked this watch so I gave it a shot. I was looking for a new “daily driver” watch as I have a bunch of nicer, more expensive watches that I didn’t want to wear to work at a hospital. I like the solar charging feature for sure as I change my own watch batteries and it can be a pain sometimes. It’s a nice weighty watch, which I like because it feels solid, not cheap. So far it seems to be keeping time well, which is an issue I’ve had with other expeditions in the past. I really like the look of this watch a lot. It’s a sharp looking watch without being too flashy or fancy so it can be worn with just about any attire. I will note that because of the solar feature, it needs to be charged well before setting the time. I placed it under a led light for about 24 hours before setting the time and using it and when I don’t wear it I place it near a window. So far I’m really liking it, but I haven’t had it long enough to really know about long-term reliability. I will update if any issues arise.

Timex Expedition Solar a no frills fine watch
Color: Brown/Blue
The watch came uncharged. I guess you're supposed to charge the watch by exposing it to sunlight. There was no sunlight and I wasn't about to wait for any. I placed it in front of one of my ultra-bright led flashlights for about 5 hours that night. It's been working fine ever since. I'll expose it to sunlight when I see some. It's a nice looking watch, no bells and whistles but it's been keeping excellent time. I swapped out the band for a NATO which I find more dependable. The price shouldn't put you in the poor house and if it's like all the other Timex watches I've owned, I'll be happy with it.

Great watch. Janky quartz. Bad strap.
Color: Brown
It’s got all the specs one could want in a field watch, but I can’t get over the janky quartz movement. The second hand overshoots and undershoots the second markers notably throughout its rotation. Also, the leather strap provided does not age well, it turns a dark brown and develops cracks in short order. Still, especially if nabbed on sale, the watch is well worth it and will probably outlive the wearer.

A nice durable non flashy field watch.
Color: Olive/Gunmetal, Color: Olive/Gunmetal
A nice looking, none flashy field watch. At 41mm it’s not too big and not too small. The sapphire crystal is a big plus on scratch resistance; and the screw in crown is a nice addition as well. If you’re looking for a low key, reliable solar powered field watch that is both comfortable, affordable and has durability built into it, this one will be hard to beat.
