An ongoing feud between Drake and Q.Elizabeth can be traced to the Captain's desire to return to the Pacific in order to rescue shipmates he left behind. Elizabeth was furious that the natives had chosen Drake to be their new "King." Drake produced a map showing the West Coast within 15-degrees of its actual location. This level of perfection would not be exceeded for another two centuries. Drake's map and ship design were keys to the success of the Dutch East India Company.
