This volume completes Ben Witherington's contributions to the set of Eerdmans socio-rhetorical commentaries on the New Testament. In addition to the usual features of these commentaries, Witherington offers an innovative way of looking at Colossians, Ephesians, and Philemon as interrelated documents written at different levels of moral discourse. Colossians is first-order moral discourse (the opening gambit), Ephesians is second-order moral discourse (what one says after the opening salvo to the same audience), and Philemon is third-order moral discourse (what one says to a personal friend or intimate). Witherington successfully analyzes these documents as examples of Asiatic rhetoric, explaining the differences in style from earlier Pauline documents. He further shows that Paul is deliberately engaging in the transformation of existing social institutions. As always, Witherington's work is scholarly and engaging. Great Book for Men’s Group

Our men’s group was looking for a great book to for our mid-week Bible Study and were excited to learn that Max Lucado had this book. God Never Gives Up on You has been perfect. Each chapter is easy to read while providing depth in thought. The best part is that each chapter is only about 10pgs (which seems to be a great number for our group). Great questions for group discussion at the end of the book too!

Much Needed Message

Beyond the message, I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Jacob in the Book of Genesis. And I thoroughly enjoyed Pastor Max Lucado‘s take on the story, and how he made it come to life for me.

Very insightful

A very interesting way to break down the concepts of basic and/or sophisticated cybersecurity. In that retrospect, you come to see that all security measures are quite the same. The difference lies in the environment; one is a corporate office, the other is Feudal Japan. It's a good read
