The doctor suddenly appeared beside Will, startling him. He was sleek and prosperous, with a dainty goatee. Though he smiled reassuringly, the poet noticed that he kept a safe distance. In a soothing, urbane voice, the physician explained the treatment: stewed prunes to evacuate the bowels; succulent meats to ease digestion; cinnabar and the sweating tub to cleanse the disease from the skin. The doctor warned of minor side effects: uncontrolled drooling, fetid breath, bloody gums, shakes and palsies. Yet desperate diseases called for desperate remedies, of course.

Were Shakespeare's shaky handwriting, his obsession with venereal disease, and his premature retirement connected? Did John Milton go blind from his propaganda work for the Puritan dictator Oliver Cromwell, as he believed, or did he have a rare and devastating complication of a very common eye problem? Did Jonathan Swift's preoccupation with sex and filth result from a neurological condition that might also explain his late-life surge in creativity? What Victorian plague wiped out the entire Bront family? What was the cause of Nathaniel Hawthorne's sudden demise? Were Herman Melville's disabling attacks of eye and back pain the product of "nervous affections," as his family and physicians believed, or did he actually have a malady that was unknown to medical science until well after his death? Was Jack London a suicide, or was his death the product of a series of self-induced medical misadventures? Why did W. B. Yeats's doctors dose him with toxic amounts of arsenic? Did James Joyce need several horrific eye operations because of a strange autoimmune disease acquired from a Dublin streetwalker? Did writing Nineteen Eighty-Four actually kill George Orwell?
The Bard meets House, M.D. in this fascinating untold story of the impact of disease on the lives and works of some the finest writers in the English language. In Shakespeare's Tremor and Orwell's Cough, John Ross cheerfully debunks old biographical myths and suggests fresh diagnoses for these writers' real-life medical mysteries. The author takes us way back, when leeches were used for bleeding and cupping was a common method of cure, to a time before vaccinations, sterilized scalpels, or real drug regimens. With a healthy dose of gross descriptions and a deep love for the literary output of these ten greats, Ross is the doctor these writers should have had in their time of need.

Glowing face with sun protection. No fuss, no muss!
Item Package Quantity: 1
Wow, I love this stuff. It does make your skin hydrated and glow with health while protecting it from the sun. No shiny oil, just glow, and best of all, no need to mess up your makeup reapplying sunscreen. You can use it to set your makeup for extra protection (I still use sunscreen under makeup). The mist comes out so fine and even, no drips or glob. The scent is light and fades quickly. The best I've dried out of all the other brands.

Lightweight and glowy
Item Package Quantity: 1
I’ve been using the Naked Sundays SPF 50 Hydrating Sunscreen, and it’s quickly become a staple — especially for long days outside and on the tennis court. The texture is lightweight and smooth, and it blends in beautifully without leaving a white cast or greasy feel. What I love most is the finish: it gives a natural, healthy glow without looking shiny or heavy. It layers really well under makeup and doesn’t pill, even when I’m reapplying throughout the day. I also appreciate how hydrating it feels without clogging pores or causing breakouts. Performance-wise, it holds up well during activity and sweating (which matters for me during matches). The packaging is easy to toss in a tennis bag for quick reapplication. If I had to note one thing, it’s slightly pricier than drugstore options — but the quality and wearability make it worth it. Best for: everyday wear, outdoor sports, and anyone wanting high SPF protection with a comfortable, skin-like finish. Would absolutely repurchase.

Stings! Waste of money! Doesn’t accept returns!
Item Package Quantity: 1
Very disappointed with this spray sunscreen. Although I’m usually not sensitive to sunscreens or face creams in general, this product made my eyes burn and tear up so much and so fast that I’m not able to use it. Such a waste. I even tried applying while covering just my eyes to avoid that area and it still stings. And it also goes on greasy, definitely not cute glowy looking. It is not a flattering shine. For the price I’m very disappointed and even upset that I didn’t notice before buying that you cannot return it. Don’t waste your money.

☀️ Holy Grail SPF Mist! especially for makeup days 💦
Item Package Quantity: 1, Item Package Quantity: 1
If you hate the feeling of greasy sunscreen but still want serious protection, this is the glow-up you’ve been waiting for. I use this as the last step in my morning skincare and as a top-up over makeup throughout the day. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and gives a dewy finish without looking oily, just a fresh, hydrated glow ✨ The mist is fine and even (no big droplets or weird stickiness), and it dries down fast. No white cast, no clogged pores, no breakouts. Just SPF 50+ that actually works with your makeup instead of wrecking it. I’ve even used it midday at Disneyland and didn’t burn once, and I’m someone who burns if I think too hard about sunshine 🥵 Helpful hint: Shake it well before spraying, and hold it about 6 inches from your face for a nice even mist. One pass usually does the trick, but I like to go back over my nose and cheeks for extra protection ☁️ It also doubles as a midday makeup refresher, especially when your foundation starts looking a little dry 🧴 I brought this with me on a full weekend trip to Disneyland and it absolutely earned its spot in my park bag 🎒 I was in the sun all day, both days, and didn’t burn at all, even with minimal shade and back-to-back rides 🎢 It layered like a dream over makeup, didn’t feel heavy, and made touch-ups fast and easy in between churros. This mist officially passed the Disneyland test. 🎡☀️💕

Good but heavy smell
Item Package Quantity: 1
I will keep using this bc it works and the sprayer is sooo nice but the smell is so overwhelming. It’s not a bad smell but it’s just so heavy. I’ll use this one but I don’t see myself repurchasing.
