This mindset, Bacevich warns, invites endless war and the ever-deepening militarization of U.S. policy. It promises not to perfect but to pervert American ideals and to accelerate the hollowing out of American democracy. In The New American Militarism, Bacevich examines the origins and implications of this misguided enterprise. He shows how American militarism emerged as a reaction to the Vietnam War, when various groups in American society -soldiers, politicians on the make, intellectuals, strategists, Christian evangelicals, even purveyors of pop culture-came to see the revival of military power and the celebration of military values as the antidote to all the ills besetting the country as a consequence of Vietnam and the 1960s. The upshot, acutely evident in the aftermath of 9/11, has been a revival of vast ambitions, this time coupled with a pronounced affinity for the sword. Bacevich urges Americans to restore a sense of realism and a sense of proportion to U.S. policy. He proposes, in short, to bring American purposes and American methods-especially with regard to the role of the military-back into harmony with the nation's founding ideals. For this edition, Bacevich has written a new Afterword in which he considers how American militarism has changed in the past five years. He explores in particular how this ideology has functioned under Barack Obama, who ran for president on a campaign based on hope for change and for a new beginning. Cheap Gshock replacement, good value
For $13 this is a steal. It's essentially a casio illuminator w larger bright dial, press once for 5 sec of light then goes dark. Date, time (12 and 24hr), stop watch. The basics, all I needed. A+
Edit: updated the waterproofing is non-existent. It's not even water resistant so treat accordingly don't bring into the shower. The face plastic cracked on me from moderate use, still legible and since I don't test it with water not an issue. The buttons are very sensitive so activities like lifting can cause the bottom left button to depress and switch to stopwatch, or engage the stopwatch.
After over a year use I still rank this as a good value. It does the one thing I wish Casio would do is improve light illumination time. The buttons depress easier than Casio's which is a bonus imo, but can be aggravating to some. The water resistance doesn't exist so purchase accordingly.

Great watch, wristband wears out after a while. Uses a Skmei 1251 band.
Watch is reliable, doesn't drift in time too much, very efficient on battery, has gotten complimented on the look a few times and has a nice user interface. It's also great to be able to see the date without pressing any buttons.
The band has fatigued and snapped after many months of putting on and taking off the watch, but If you'd like to find a replacement band, search for Skmei 1251 wristbands.

Inexpensive sports watch that was easy to set up and works well.
I have had this watch for a few days. The included instructions were very basic, but I figured out how to set everything up pretty easily. The watch band is pretty adjustable, fits my fairly wide wrists very well. For the price, about half the cost of the name brand very similar watch it replaced, the watch works well, I am very pleased.

This is a great watch for the price!
I purchased this watch to use mostly down at my cabin. It is well-made, the functions are easy to use, and it has withstood all the abuse I’ve put it through. I wear this while hunting, cutting firewood, riding ATVs, and just running around the timber. If I destroy this watch in six months, it will be well worth the money I paid for it, but I don’t think that’s going happen. It’s stylish enough to wear to the office and just going out. If you’re looking for an every day watch, you’re not worried about destroying, this is the one to get.

Excellent Time Keeper // Terrible Wristband !
The watch itself is fantastic. When I first got it, and set it up, I set it to the time on my computer, which is as accurate as you can get. In the beginning I checked the time accuracy daily. After a few weeks my time checks changed to once, or twice a week. I never had to change the watch's time. The seconds would vary a little, in comparison to the computer clock. But, it never got more than 30 seconds either side of the computer clock. However, the watchband is a big time NO-GO! The buckle, where you connect it on your wrist, can be frustrating most of the time when you are trying to put it on. Once you've got it on, the strap that goes beyond the buckle is held down by a sliding keeper, that slides in and out depending on what you're doing. Terrible design! I wanted to buy a "Twist-a-Flex" wristband, but couldn't find one that matched the unusual design where the straps attach to the watch body. I bought the watch 4 months ago. Today, one of the 4 pins, that connect the straps to the watch body, fell out somewhere, making the watch impossible to wear. Excellent price. Excellent timepiece. Worst design for a wristband that I've ever seen.
