Akokán is a Yoruba word used in Cuba meaning from the heart, and indeed, every song on the self-titled debut album by Orquesta Akokán feels like a heartfelt gift from the band to the listener. Assembled and led by Cuban vocalist José Pepito Gómez, Orquesta Akokán is a big band collective of the finest musicians on the island, both young and old. It features all-original music and was cut live to tape over a three-day session at Havana s hallowed state-run Estudios Areito. Areito is one of the longest operating studios in the world and where important Cuban records have been made. The album was produced by Jacob Plasse and arranged by Mike Eckroth.

have had this mat since june 2024 and it’s still in amazing quality!! it’s so comfy, thick and soft which is why i bought it. i feel like i could use this thing on a rocky ass ground and i wouldn’t feel anything but squishy-ness lol so protection is so good. the color is still vibrant too (i got the lavender color) which i love!! really makes such a huge difference in my energy when i workout, making me feel like dat gooorl 👏🏼 i’m 5”2’ so there’s ample space for me. definitely slip resistant, im able to perform lunges with one leg on and off. also love the band you can wrap around it so you can transport it anywhere :) just purchased a black one for my hubby which is why i’m here again hehe
