Im neuen Unimog-Buch geht Ralf Maile auf diese aktuellen Baureihen ausführlich ein und begibt sich dann auf eine fotografische Zeitreise, die den weltweiten Einsatz zahlreicher Unimog-Baureihen über die Jahrzehnte dokumentiert. Anhand von rund 770, bislang zumeist unveröffentlichten Fotos präsentiert sich der Unimog hier "live" in seinem natürlichen Umfeld: im kommunalen Bereich, bei den Rettungsdiensten, in der Bauwirtschaft, bei der Feuerwehr, als Forstschlepper, im Zweiwege-Eisatz, beim Militär. Unübertroffen ist auch seine Eignung als Träger unterschiedlichster An- und Aufbaugeräte sowie als Basisfahrzeug für jede erdenkliche Art fest montierter oder schnellwechselbarer Aufbauten - wobei die hohe Straßengeschwindigkeit einen schnellen Wechsel auch zwischen weit entfernten Einsatzstellen erlaubt.
