Tove Ditlevsens ikoniske roman om en københavnsk baggårdspiges barndom og tidligste ungdom i 1930'erne, da hun forgæves stræber bort fra barndomsmiljøet. Barndommens gade udkommer i Gyldendals Klassikerkollektion, der er en ny serie med klassikere fra Danmark og hele verden. Serien vil udkomme med små og store kollektioner. Første kollektion samler sig om erindring som både tema og genre. Ud over Barndommens gade -  med efterord af Pia Fris Laneth -  består første kollektion også af Ingmar Bergmans Laterna Magica (sep. 2018) med efterord af Dorthe Nors samt af Tove Ditlevsens Gift med efterord af Dy Plambeck (okt. 2018). Endelig er de første to bind af Agnes Henningsens store erindringsværk klar i en samlet udgave også i oktober med efterord af Pia Juul. Resten af værket følger trop fra 2019. Næste kollektion bliver en kærlighedskollektion, der rummer værker af Marguerite Duras, Boris Pasternak og Emily Brontë. Gyldendals Klassikerkollektion er med omslag designet af det svenske designbureau Ulmaja Wilsson.
