* Johann Weinmann (1683-1741), ein deutscher Apotheker, war Autor und Herausgeber der "Phytanthoza Iconographia", eines der wichtigsten botanischen Werke des 18. Jahrhunderts. Es wurde zwischen 1737 und 1745 in acht Teilen veröffentlicht und enthält 1025 handkolorierte Stiche, auf denen Tausende von Pflanzen abgebildet sind. Viele der Illustrationen stammen von dem jungen Künstler George Ehret, der ein neues Druckverfahren, die Schabkunst, anwandte, das eine größere Detailtreue und Schattierung ermöglichte, als dies mit den etablierten Techniken des Linienstichs möglich war. Ehret wurde zum bedeutendsten botanischen Künstler des achtzehnten Jahrhunderts.
