Die Domaine Raymond Usseglio, die offiziell 1964 gegründet wurde, deren Familiengeschichte jedoch bis 1948 zurückreicht, ist eines der renommiertesten Weingüter des Rhônetals. Gegenwärtig wird es von Stéphane Usseglio geleitet, einem Winzer in dritter Generation, der den Betrieb im Alter von 22 Jahren übernommen hat. Stéphane hat die Umstellung des Weinguts auf biodynamischen Anbau vorangetrieben, und seit 2015 ist die Domaine Raymond Usseglio vollständig bio-zertifiziert. Stéphane bevorzugt die Verwendung von Betonfässern für die Fermentierung seiner Weine. Sowohl die Cuvée Châteauneuf-du-Pape als auch der "Impériale" werden in Betonfässern vergoren. "Impériale" ist ein auf Grenache basierender roter, der mit blumigen Düften von Rosen, reifen Himbeeren, Kirschen, Thymian und exotischen Gewürzen aufwartet. Die Früchte stammen von alten Rebstöcken in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, die bereits 1901 gepflanzt wurden. Mit 15 % Alkohol ist er kein Leichtgewicht, aber er besitzt keine merkliche Härte. Vielmehr ist er am Gaumen reich an delikaten Früchten, roten Waldbeeren und Kirsch-Cola, die von scharfen Kräutern und einer soliden Erdigkeit untermauert werden. Der Abgang ist vollmundig und fruchtig, gekrönt von einer floralen, lavendelartigen Note. It's real!

Off white but totally happy. Even though it's wool, it doesn't itch and is very soft. The patches are few and not at all noticeable from front. Very thick and looks great!

Beautiful rug but smelly when you first unpack it.

Beautiful quality. Deep thick fur. The "patches" are noting more than where 4 or 5 inch splits, one at each end were stitched back together. I wouldn't have even called them patches. They are the same stitching as used to join the two pelts in the middle. The color is a very clean white. Being natural pelt, I was really expecting something a little more blond. I've bought New Zealand sheepskin several times before and I don't doubt this is Aussie or Kiwi sheepskin but I didn't notice this is processed in China before I bought it. Still, the only complaint I had was a strange chemical smell when I unwrapped it. It didn't smell like the tanning chemicals from previous pelts. But it's gone away after 3 weeks so I guess all's good.
