Pictures vom DP Verlag ist ein innovatives und kreativ gestaltetes Gesellschaftsspiel, das 2020 mit dem renommierten Spiel des Jahres-Preis ausgezeichnet wurde. In diesem spannenden Spiel setzen die Teilnehmer Fotos mit originellen Materialien wie Schnürsenkeln, Stöckern, Steinen, Bauklötzen oder Farbwürfeln nach. Dabei müssen die Spieler einerseits selbst ein Foto kreativ darstellen und andererseits raten, welche Nachbildungen der Mitspieler zu welcher Fotovorlage gehören.

Das Spiel umfasst fünf aufeinanderfolgende Runden, in denen verschiedene Materialsets verwendet werden. Jeder Spieler erhält pro Runde heimlich ein Fotokärtchen aus einem Raster von 16 Motiven und stellt dieses mit dem jeweiligen Materialset nach. Anschließend tippt jeder geheim, welche Replikation welches Foto zeigt. Punkte erhalten die Spieler sowohl für richtige Zuordnungen als auch für richtige Einschätzungen über das eigene Werk. Diese klare Struktur und die vielfältigen Materialien fördern die Kreativität, die Beobachtungsgabe und die Kommunikationsfähigkeit aller Teilnehmer während eines gemeinsamen Spieleabends.

Pictures eignet sich besonders für Familien und Freundesgruppen, die ein kurzweiliges, interaktives Brettspiel bzw. Kartenspiel suchen, das durch abwechslungsreiche Spielmechaniken und Teamgefühl besticht. Die überschaubare Spielzeit ermöglicht einen schnellen Einstieg und wiederholten Spielspaß.

My main issue with the book is the lack of non-american stories that explained the bigger picture. As a former Blizzard dev, there's much more than what happened in Irvine and Korea, with Europe's office mentioned almost as a footnote, and nothing else from the other regional stories. Shame but I guess the book would've been double the size.
