Als Nahrungsergänzungsmittel wird Olivenblattextrakt immer beliebter. Zum Einen sind die Kapseln leicht und schnell einzunehmen und als Nahrungsergänzung ideal in den Alltag zu integrieren. Zum  Anderen überzeugen die zahlreichen gesundheitsfördernden Eigenschaften. Olivenblattextrakt ist ein Wirkstoff aus dem Olivenbaum und kommt hauptsächlich in seinen Blättern vor. Der Hauptwirkstoff ist Oleuropein, ein polyphenolisches Secoirdoid-Glykosid der Elenolsäure, das zu den wirksamsten natürlichen Antioxidantien zählt. Zwar enthalten auch die Oliven selbst sowie Olivenöl Oleuropein, allerdings ist der Gehalt deutlich niedriger als beim Olivenblattextrakt.
