Als Sonnenuhr mit intergriertem Kompass kannst Du mit "Dennis" die Uhrzeit bestimmen, wie es schon früher die alten Seefahrer getan haben. Um die Uhrzeit abzulesen, stelle Dich an einen sonnigen Platz, halte die Uhr gerade und richte sie mit Hilfe des integrierten Kompasses nach Norden aus. Ist der Schattenzeiger aufgeklappt, wirft er einen Schatten auf den Stundenring, an dem Du nun die Uhrzeit ablesen kannst. Sollte die Sonne einen ungünstigen Winkel haben, zum Beispiel, weil sie in der Mittagszeit so hoch steht, dass der Zeiger keinen Schatten wirft, kann auch dies mit der Uhr korrigiert werden. Klappe dafür die Winkelanzeige auf und kippe den Stundenring so weit an, dass der Schatten des Zeigers wieder auf den Stundenring fällt. Auf dieses Schmuckstück wäre sogar Jules Verne neidisch!
