Die „French Work Chore Jacket“ von Nigel Cabourn basiert auf klassischen französischen Work Jackets aus der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.

Vorlage sind Chore Jackets aus dem Arbeitsalltag von Handwerkern, Landarbeitern und Werkstätten in Frankreich – klare, gerade Silhouette, aufgesetzte Taschen und ein rein funktionaler Aufbau ohne zusätzliche Details.

Gefertigt aus ultra-hochdichtem Leinen. Leinen zählt zu den ältesten Naturfasern und wächst auch auf kargen Böden mit geringem landwirtschaftlichem Aufwand. Die kurzen Fasern sind sehr reißfest, lassen sich gut zu grobem Garn verspinnen, aber nur schwer zu feinem, gleichmäßigem Garn verarbeiten. Auch eine dichte Webung ist technisch anspruchsvoll und erfordert präzise Verarbeitung.

Hier kommt fein gesponnenes, hochdicht gewebtes Leinen zum Einsatz. Durch das Nidom-Verfahren wird die anfängliche Steifheit des Materials in eine kontrollierte, tragbare Geschmeidigkeit überführt, ohne die Struktur des Gewebes zu verlieren.
