Dersim'in Kayıp Kızları Kitap Açıklaması


"Kız kardeşim 2-3 yaşlarındaydı. Adı Xece (Hacer). Bizi Ovacık'ta toplamış kafileler halinde Hozat üzerinden Elazığ'a götürüyorlardı. Yüzlerce belki binlerce insan. Yara bere içinde, aç susuz, perişan. Ben 13 yaşlarındaydım. Her şeyi bugün gibi hatırlıyorum. Subaylar güzel kız çocukları almak istiyorlardı. Kız kardeşim çok güzeldi. Bir subay kız kardeşimi annemden zorla almak istedi. Annem vermedi. Pertek köprüsüne geldiğimizde orada mola verildi. Aynı subay tekrar geldi ve annemden zorla aldı. Ağladı. Ne yaptıysa aldı. 'Evlatlık alacağım. Ona bakacağım,' dedi subay. Sadece kız kardeşim alınmadı tabii. Çok kız çocuğu alındı. Aynı zamanda amcamın kızı da alınıp götürülüyor. Amcamın kızının adı Tege idi."

Xece'nin, Tege'nin başına gelenler 'münferit olay' değil. 1937/1938 "Tunceli Harekâtı"ndan sonra çok sayıda kız çocuk ailelerinden alındı - kimisi zaten anne babasız kalmıştı. Yatılı okullara verildiler, bazıları da subaylara veya bürokratlara evlatlık olarak teslim edildi. Aslında 1926'dan 1950'ye kadar değişen yoğunluklarla süren bu uygulama, Dersim kırımının vahim cephelerinden biridir.

Nezahat ve Kazım Gündoğan, yıllarca uğraşarak, sebatla, Dersim'in bu kayıp kızlarının izini sürdüler. Kendileriyle, yakınlarıyla konuştular. I have read many, many books about the Camino de Santiago and this is by far the best. It is so clearly written that I felt myself walking along with John Pearson. His description of every aspect of the Way is accurate and wonderful to read. I only walked the last 100 km, but feel now like I walked the whole way and enjoyed it without the blisters! If I were younger, I would definitely walk the entire way but am so glad John wrote his experience so that I at least can imagine what it was like. Thank you for the Most Excellent Book!

What an enriching experience it was to read John's journey on the Camino de Santiago! By the third day of reading John's experiences on the Camino, I realized how much I was looking forward to reading another chapter or two after dinner with my family. After reading his chapter entitled "The Whale in the Room," I was so moved that I shared what I'd read with my wife, Cathy and son, Alex and told them how blessed I was to have them safe and near me. My husband and I are planning on walking the last 62 miles of the Camino. We are not going to be "real" pilgrims so I wanted to read books that would help me understand the experience. John Pearson did a good job of taking the reader along on his pilgrimage. But as a female who remembers how distasteful it was for old men to notice her, I couldn't understand the purpose of the descriptions of the physical appearance of the women he met. For readers wanting a taste of the journey, what did it add to include the description of a tattoo on the edge of a woman's breast and how many men were looking at it. So much of the book was thoughtful and deep and then all of a sudden there was a description of a woman as an object. Men looking at women is not news so it felt odd that the author added that detail throughout the book. If you are not bothered by the author's need to share his observation of women and how much wine he drank, it is an otherwise worthy telling of one man's epic journey on the Camino.
